Wandering the streets of Surry Hills, looking for a decent feed that was decent in price too (about $20ish). Found Ichibang, which was a small cosy Japanese restaurant in the heart of Surry Hills. Decently priced considering the area, the food was relatively good (but not amazing, like typical good Jap food), but the only drawback was the delivery of food took way too long. Tried the gyoza, karaage chicken and chicken katsu don, with all being average and standard quality Jap food. Would recommend if craving Jap food in the area and a bit stingy to spend in Surry Hills.
Saturday early lunch after gym my friends desperately needing protein fix we opted for large sashimi boat and spider rolls. Sashimi boat had generous amount of tuna, kingfish, whitings and salmon pieces and they were ultra fresh. However unfortunately the cuts were not done properly - it was definitely not work of sushi chef. Spider roll was yummy; it was fried well and again serving size was really generous. Waitress was friendly and service was prompt. If the sashimi were cut better would have rated higher. goodtasteguide.blogspot.com
Prices charged did not match what was listed on the menu, when questioned we were told they had put them up & that was it. The Wagu beef, is not wagu, its cheap fillet that was overcooked & chewy. will not be going back, considering all the amazing eateries in surry hills
Good service, great sushi esp the teriyaki chicken. nice green tea too. Takeaway window is good lunch value with an excellent selection of sushis.
