Overall, it was very enjoyable, albeit pricey, food. <br/ <br/ Definite highlights were the:<br/ kingfish ceviche <br/ calamari and potato (fave dish of the night)<br/ lamb shoulder (even if you’re not a big fan of lamb, this was cooked perfectly with the best balance of flavours) <br/ olive oil ice cream sandwich (think of baklava but ice cream version)<br/ <br/ I personally don’t recommend the spatchcock as it was a very average tasting dish and messy to eat. <br/ <br/ Service can also be a bit inconsistent at times. <br/ <br/ All in all, I do recommend visiting Nomad.
It's easy to understand the long wait times for a table when you've had the food at Nomad.<br/ <br/ We dropped by on a recent trip to Sydney on a busy Friday night with no booking. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes, but given we had nowhere else to go, decided to wait it out.<br/ <br/ The kingfish ceviche was easily the standout dish. Perfectly cured kingfish laced amongst silky avocado and paired with a crunchy cracker this was a great opener for the rest of the evening. The BBQ king prawns had a great salsa Verde that helped to cut through the smokiness. As expected, the smoked beef cheeks were very tender, though the fennel and capers were a little too sour for our liking.<br/ <br/ The presentation of the tiramisu was very clever. A large biscuit topper which upon cracking revealed a silky cream layer underneath. Points for creativity!!<br/ <br/ Overall, Nomad is worth a visit for those more fancier date nights!!<br/ <br/ Tastiness: 4.5/5<br/ Value: 4/5<br/ Satisfaction: 4.5/5<br/ <br/ Pictured:<br/ Sydney Rock Oysters<br/ Smoked mushroom bone marrow empanada<br/ Kingfish ceviche<br/ BBQ king prawns<br/ Smoked beef cheek<br/ Turkish coffee tiramisu
This is our first visit. The restaurant is nice and big, ample seatings. The girl who served our table was very attentive and friendly. Four of us ordered 5 small plates and 4 mains. The portion of beef tongue was too small but it was absolutely delicious (we didn’t had enough), it was our favourite dish for the tonight. Beef cheek was very tender and cooked just right. A great place to catch up with friends on a Friday night.
Flavour combinations tend to fall in the ballpark of Modern Australian with varying notes of Middle Eastern influence. We started with the zucchini flowers; delicate and encrusted in a punchy parmesan crumb, softened by the creamy ricotta filling and finished with a sweet, fragrant truffle honey.
Love the interior and the ambience of this place! Am a fan of the open kitchen concept. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was amazing! We especially enjoyed the burrata with the flat bread, the zucchini flower, and the haloumi. They were super busy even on a week night so make sure you make reservations early!
