Contribuisci feedbackI dined here on a Wednesday night as part of a foodie event (thanks to FCBA for organising). We were lucky enough to try a spread of most items on the menu including:<br/ <br/ chicken skewers with sate sauce<br/ spicy pork skewers<br/ gado gado salad<br/ turmeric rice<br/ coconut rice<br/ fries with spicy mayo<br/ <br/ Everything is made in house in their open kitchen. I thought the sate sauce was rich in flavour and worked well with all the dishes we were served. The pork skewers had a great amount of spice for my personal liking but there was extra chilli on the side for those who crave an extra spice hit. <br/ It was my first time trying a gado gado salad but i thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a good mixture of textures with the egg, green beans and thick sate sauce. <br/ <br/ Overall, I liked the selection of menu items on offer. It is a nice place for a cheap and cheerful meal before a night out on the town.
I love a grilled meat skewer and even better when the skewer can be smothered in a delicious peanut sate sauce. <br/ <br/ Sate Haus, the latest addition in Surry Hills, is dishing up Indonesian street food. Owner Dustin started Sate Haus with a vision to create a relaxed, chilled out venue with an Indonesian vibe where friends can casually hang out and enjoy some delicious skewers whilst washing it down with a beer or wine (I recommend the house rose) and you got yourself a sate party! <br/ <br/ Choose from chicken, pork or veggie skewers which are all cooked to order. The pork belly skewers are marinated in a spicy manadonese sauce which give them a fiery kick! The sate sauce is made fresh daily, you can really taste the peanuts and aromatic spices in the sauce. It’s hands down the best sate sauce I’ve had in Sydney! <br/ <br/ We also tried the gado gado salad (Indonesian speciality made with layered veggies, egg and sate sauce) and the sate haus fries served with sate or chilli mayo sauce. There is also a choice of turmeric or coconut rice to accompany your skewers. <br/ <br/ Don’t forget to check out the awesome graffiti wall inside and try and spot the names of the owner’s kids and other halves, fave sports heroes and movie stars plus some sate Haus inspirational ‘inspo’ quotes. Also, spot owner Dustin’s face on the graffiti wall and on the beer mugs! I love the personal touches at the Sate Haus. <br/ <br/ A big thanks Sate Haus for supplying this awesome feed. <br/ <br/ Note: I dined as a guest of the venue. All views and opinions expressed above are my own.
Unwind this weekend with some Indonesian sate skewers and drinks! This was the first time I’ve had Indonesian food and I must say their skewers were marinated and grilled perfectly and dipped with their signature peanut sauce
Indonesian style satay.<br/ <br/ Venue: <br/ 54 favoux street, love the wall art, there is also scripture from Matthew chapter 19: verse 26 written on the right hand side corner of the wall.<br/ <br/ Service:<br/ Very basic but friendly.<br/ <br/ Food Drink: <br/ Prost to start with.<br/ Indonesian lager with triple hop and triple cold brew through 28 days maturation process.<br/ Taste quite refreshing to me.<br/ <br/ sate ayam chicken satay $16<br/ 5 pieces came with peanut sauce.the best peanut sauce to date in any Indonesian restaurant.<br/ For lunch, Rice is included, but dinner you have to buy separate.<br/ I choose coconut rice instead.<br/ Rice was soft ratio of water is way too much ! however the flavour was spot on, only the texture I don’t like.<br/ <br/ Sate Babi pork satay <br/ Love the texture and flavour.<br/ The only thing that the sauce, spicy manadonese style sauce was a little sour rather than spicy.<br/ Otherwise it was good.
I have very little experience with Indonesian food outside of Ayam Goreng 99 and so far Indonesian food hasn't disappointed!! I love Sate Haus so much!! The chicken sate is EXCELLENT! I honestly had no opinions about peanut sauce but after having Indonesian food it might just be one of my favourite sauces ever. The pork sate was ALSO EXCELLENT! I don't eat pork much but I really loved this one. It was juicy and tender and good and wow. Also got the yellow rice. So good with chicken sate I promise.
