I have been to Qtr East twice in the last couple of weeks, once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times it was with work colleagues as we work just around the corner. Dinner was really lovely, staff were attentive, good menu and the food was very, very nice. I had the fish in a broth with lentils, veges and gnocchi. Just beautiful! Everyone else had steak and chips and again very happy. However, went for lunch yesterday and it was very disappointing. Firstly I had checked the web site and there was a Christmas lunch menu. But the menus on the table were for the usual lunch options. I mentioned it to our server who told us that no, the menu on the table was the Christmas menu. I knew it wasn 't so mentioned to another server who was bringing water. He said Oh so you want the Christmas lunch menu? , I agreed we did but he told us we couldn 't mix and match at the table! That was fine, and we ordered. Starters were lovely, most of us had the salmon and one had the ham hock terrine. It was the open ravioli for main that was so disappointing. It consisted of two cooked lasagne leaves with a moderately nice filling of sweet potato and mushrooms in between. But that is not ravioli, open or otherwise. It is two lasagne sheets! Texture was weird. Could have been a bad day, but not the best experience. However would definitely recommend for dinner and perhaps, after all, the normal lunch menu might have been a better choice! Also the online booking system is great. Staff are also generally pleasant.
QTR.EAST had great Kerb Appeal. It caught our attention and we dropped in at 6pm on route to the 3 Arena. We had the early bird menu which was delicious and great value. Looking forward to returning when next in the area.
If you were here under the old management, I implore you, do not come back. I have been raving about the Dublin Wine Room since I was here for a corporate event 3 years ago. Tonight, I had the good fortune to bring my wife back for our last night in Dublin. Unfortunately, it went sideways really quickly. Our first server didn't understand the nature of the self-serve wine tasting dispensers and had to ask for help. We ordered bread and dips that didn't come for half an hour. Our second server didn't tell us that the kitchen was closing. We were quite clear that we were STARTING with antipasti. Sadly, by the time it arrived, we were already too late to order dinner. Additionally, I would say that the number of wines available from the dispensers has dropped by at least half and maybe more than that. Consequently, the range available is now quite limited. All in all, a pretty disappointing evolution. I won't be back.
At the end of a long day of travelling this place was what the doctor ordered. An excellent selection of wines and superb food. The gin infused salmon was to die for and the mussels in coconut and chilli simply divine. The cod was rightly a special and the chicken wrapped in ham was excellent. Deserts were taken with the recommended accompanying wines and we rolled to our hotel wishing we lived locally to visit again. Really, really good!!
