If you're in the mood to sample a variety of dishes, I suggest trying one of their boxes. You can choose your protein, salad, rice, and dip, and even add homemade flat bread for a small charge. I absolutely adored the lemon and garlic chicken with Egyptian rice and muhammara. The muhammara, while initially intimidating, turned out to be pleasantly mild. The vegetarian box was bursting with flavor, and I appreciated the diverse selection of proteins. The fattoush salad was particularly delicious, and the Egyptian falafel wrap was generously portioned and convenient for eating on the go. The Koshari, a traditional Egyptian dish, was a visual and flavorful delight that I highly recommend trying. Located in the Gateway building, this restaurant is one of the top choices. My go-to dish is the Chicken Shawarma served with a side of rice and quinoa salad. I have also sampled the Shishtawook, although I found it to be less satisfying. Additionally, I have tried the chicken with garlic lemon sauce and the Lamb Shawarma box, both of which were delicious and fulfilling.
I didn't enjoy the falafel wrap as much because it was a bit dry. The box options are also tasty but can be quite filling with all the rice.
Bekya at Circular Quay has become one of my favorite lunch places in the CBD! I can't get over the chicken or lamb in a box (no rice) with two salads and lots of Sriracha sauce (this is really tasty and spicy at the same time). The staff know me well by now and always give some extra Sriracha to savor.
Tried this place at the new Gateway food court down at Circular Quay. The chicken shawarma wrap was very nice. Good flavours and the wrap itself was nice and chewy. They also have 'boxes ' if you want a choice of 2 salads with your meal instead of a wrap.
