Chinese restaurant that made efforts to the ambience to fit into surrounding wharf area with modern feels. Food quality was decent whilst not going above any expectation. Wait staff seemed to speak minimal English as they could not understand much other than the name of each dish. Had great view looking over King Street Wharf and the waters. We were sitting in the balcony on second floor and soon after food arrived, couple of sea gulls flew in and looked like they were about to dive into our food. This caused bit of unnecessary anxiety which I would rather not have during a meal. We were there with 50% off deal by Dimmi and had no sour experience that other reviewers state here at all. Everything we wanted was available, serving potion was generous, and enjoyed the value. Settling the bill with discount was no fuss. Having said that, the normal price of the menu felt too dear if we didn't have a discount, especially when the food tasted not a great deal better than any other Chinese restaurant.
We love great Chinese food. This place makes ordinary Chinese food a little bit fancy. Modern fusion Chinese food. Its interesting and tasty. Set on king St wharf, the restaurant entrance is on lime Street. The place has a view you wouldn’t believe. There’s tables in private caves, tables on the balcony, tables downstairs, via the King St wharf ground level entrance and tables outside at the wharf entrance. Inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs, private, tables to suit everyone. The menu is complete with dim sims, rice, noodles, seafood, meats, soup, desserts. We order what the waiter recommends. And let us tell you, it was delicious! Fav dish of the night were the Poached prawn wonton served in a szechuan style red spicy sauce. We were way to full for dessert. Will have to return to try the fried ice cream!
Hulu at King Street Wharf is not your average Chinese restaurant. The ambiance and decor are impressive, paying attention to every detail from furniture to dinnerware. With two levels for dining, it's great for groups. Starting with Hulu Mix Appetizers, which were delicious, we also tried Pan Fried Mushroom Dumplings and Crispy Cheese Prawn Dumplings, with the cheese dumplings standing out. The Sweet and Sour Pork on ICE was intriguing and surprisingly tasty. Other highlights included Tea Smoked Duck, King Prawn with Champagne and Fruit Dressing, and Homemade Tofu and Mushrooms. The Nemo Dumplings were a must-try, though almost too cute to eat. Drinks like Green Garden and Amazing Dream were refreshing, while the Deep Fried Ice Cream with Chocolate Syrup and Sago Dessert were top-notch desserts. Overall, the dining experience was amazing and highly recommended.
I absolutely loved the food and hospitality at Hulu. We arrived a bit early for dinner around 5.30pm and had trouble finding a place to eat on the wharf side as most places were not allowing customers in until 6pm. This seemed ridiculous to us - at least let customers in and seat them. The staff at Hulu were welcoming and the decor was well done. The menu featured a good mix of traditional and modern dishes. While it falls into the fine dining category with higher prices, you won't regret paying for the delicious food served.
