I came to this place for lunch with my family last week after a tour around Sydney. We wanted to eat Malaysian food so did a quick search on Google and this place had the highest review located in the CBD area. So I definitely wanted to try it out. <br/ <br/ Me and my family was greeted warmly by the owner of the restaurant. I knew what I was ordering but my dad and his brother were struggling what to order. But the owner came up to them and told them what is available to eat and what they should try. Since we came a bit late there was very little lunch left for us but there was enough to feed all 5 of us. I ordered the veg Thali plate with roti and the rest of my family ordered the non-veg Thali plate with rice. <br/ <br/ The owner who is a lovely Indonesian Indian bloke told me that he ran out of 1 veg curry for the Thali, I ordered. So instead he just cooked me an omelet as a substitute. All the veg curries and stir fry veges tasted utterly delicious in my plate. Even the roti canai tasted fresh, crispy and flaky. All the curries went really well with the rice. All my family loved their non veg Thali plates with rice. I tasted the butter chicken and another chicken curry from my dad's plate. It tasted very good, so much flavour it made me realize I should have ordered the non veg Thali plate as well, haha! <br/ <br/ Overall, the food tasted delicious. Everything was made from scratch and I could tell as I was eating each dish from my Thali plate. Also the owner and his wife was so nice to us. He came to check on us to make sure everything was ok. He even managed to tell us the recipe for one of his curry to one of my family members. Such a lovely man and he was so caring about us. <br/ <br/ After our lunch, we ordered coffee. I tell you his wife can certainly make an excellent coffee. Mostly people who come there just come for the coffee. I can see why, it taste amazing and loved the sweet biscuits that went along with it. <br/ <br/ I had an enjoyable experience at this place with my family. It made it even better when the owner was so caring and lovely to us. He really had a good conversation with us as well regarding the food they serve to customers. Only downfall about this place is its only open for lunch between 2-4pm and that's it. So the owner and his wife makes everything fresh for lunch and serves to the people. That's it, so I say come early so you don't miss out on all the lovely curries these lovely people cook because they certainly run out quickly. Then don't forget to finish it off with a cup of coffee because the owners wife know how to make an excellent coffee. <br/ <br/ When I'm in Sydney next time, I'll definitely pop by this place again for lunch. Ciao for now!
The host here is a top bloke. Excellent coffee with a finely tuned machine. <br/ <br/ The offerings are generous and filling, freshly cooked every morning. Try the thali plate with the roti cakes. <br/ <br/ Decent offerings for vegetarians also with several veg dishes available. <br/ <br/ Great value pricing, you can't go wrong with a pleasant decor inside and newspapers, it is quite comfortable.
I was excited to try this place after reading so many good reviews! My friend and I went during the week and the line wasn't too bad.
3-star is what I give to average/mediocre restaurants, the ones I won't go back to without special reasons.
