Great little place situated in chinatown, eastwood. Like other malatang and dry pot stores, its up to you to choose you your own ingredients and pay by weight, surprisingly cheap and good value for money. We have only ever went for dry pot, and got medium spice (which is really hot for some people, so might want to go low or no spice if your no good with spicy food). The flavour is there but recently the last time we visited, the chilli overpowered the rest of the flavours of the dish, and all we could taste was spice. Might of been a one off, but still worth a visit if your around the area and into chinese/mala type of foods. Opens till really late, so prefer it over fast food joints late night.
The food was good, but the staff no one can speak English at all. I lost my car key there, and try to ask the staff but they don’t understand.. I remembered that I put on the table and my friend saw it too. But when I left i forgot to take my keys. It hard to ask the staff to check cctv or he even didnt ask another staff that cleaned our table as I came back.. someone already sit there..
There are various levels of spice available for the soup, including a 'numbing' pepper option. The restaurant also offers wok-fried dishes with rice and vegetarian clear soup bases for those who are not in the mood for soup. Complimentary toppings like coriander, leeks, dried chili, nuts, sauces, and extra chili are provided. I ordered 300 grams of fresh food and only paid $6. If you choose to take away, there is a $0.50 charge for the Tupperware, but the mini containers for chili and toppings are free. The dining tables resemble those of a Bengong bubble tea place, making for a classy atmosphere in this small malatang restaurant. The customer service is always good, with the boss even stopping by regularly. Despite a 20-minute travel time, I now visit every week. I appreciate that they stay open late and allow us to add our own toppings. My son thoroughly enjoyed his noodle soup and finished every last bit. We make it a habit to return to this restaurant.
