Tried out this new restaurant last night with friends. We ordered a mixture of dishes including the hummus, eggplant, ocean trout, ravioli, prawn pizza and sirloin. Of all the dishes we enjoyed the eggplant and hummus (with charred cauliflower) the best accompanied with the freshly made bread for dipping. I could have eaten just the hummus and bread !
This unique restaurant combining middle eastern and Italian dishes was very interesting and offered a wide variety of flavours for a wonderful meal. For starters the Argentinian beef empanadas (one each of course!) and the falafel balls are a must. We ordered the prosciutto pizza and gnocchi for main both of which was really good. Basically this restaurant does not disappoint in food or service. I will be back!!
I dined solo, straight after work at 6pm on a Wednesday evening. A steady stream of 'after work' crowd filed in soon after me. Service was friendly and efficient. Open kitchen brigade were impressive in their white jackets and easy banter, watching the signature pide/pizza 'puff' come out of the oven is a treat. Barramundi was great (no salt and pepper on table). Wait staff were friendly and efficient. The Gateway dining precinct offers a great range of dining choices all day long and is long overdue in this end of town.
We arrived at 7.30 on a Saturday night with 2 hours to spare before our show. At 8.50 we were still waiting for the main course. When it came (three of us ordered the chicken dish) it was partially cooked and pretty tasteless. We had to eat quickly and jog to the Opera House. The starter was good although the advice to order extra bread was an annoying and unnecessary upsell. There was a child racing a toy car along the floor next to our table for the whole time we were there. Perhaps this is a new restaurant and settling in but I suggest; the staff need more experience/training, the kitchen needs to be more efficient, the menu could use a workover and children crawling over the floor should be discouraged - that's what Macdonalds is for! A bottle of wine and two courses for 4 people cost ~$300. Hmmmm.
