Prime Steak House - Syracuse

Always a great night at Prime! A must high end restaurant when in Syracuse.

I'm writing this review because of some of the negative reviews I read after eating here. Yes it's pricey but if you look at the menu before going then you should already know this. My husband and I had reservations for 5:00 to celebrate his birthday. We arrived 15 minutes early but were still greeted by very friendly staff. We were given the choice of sitting at the bar or going right to our table. We went to the table and were given dinner menus as well as drink menus. My husband had a glass of wine and I had water (yes, I'm cheap). Our waitress took our order for appetizers and dinner. My husband had a shrimp cocktail. There were only 3 shrimp but they were jumbo shrimp....and I mean jumbo. While waiting for our dinner, we were brought a basket of three rolls along with a dish of strawberry jam, marmalade, and honey butter. These rolls were piping hot and delicious. The honey butter was homemade and made that day. It also was delicious. My husband chose the marmalade and said it was very tasty. I had a burger and fries. Burger was very big and tasted fine. The fries however were the best I've ever tasted: crunchy on the outside but soft inside. My husband had a steak that came with a corn on the cob and roasted tomato. He enjoyed all of it. He also ordered a side of carrots which were also delicious. For dessert he had the butter cake with ice cream and fresh strawberries. He said the cake was wonderful. I had a 6 layer carrot cake which also was wonderful. (I did take half of it home). Waitress was attentive and friendly.We didn't experience any of the complaints I read about.

I’ll start by saying how disappointing our experience was. I never leave reviews but I feel for the price you will inevitably spend, people should be aware… We had reservations for 6 people at 6:00 Saturday night. Got in no problem, because we were legit the only table in there.. which we were shocked being it was dinner hour on a Saturday night…. We ordered drinks that took a long time to get to us, and we all ordered appetizers, which again took forever. 3 couples, 3 separate checks…. My husband ordered the seafood tower.. we both had burgers and I had wine and he had a soda… our bill alone was $290. I wanted to puke . The burgers weren’t even good, but even if they were it’s a freaking burger… the seafood tower??? Such a joke. 1 lobster tail , 4 jumbo shrimp and a cup of crab meat- should have been no more than 50 bucks . After our meal we sat there forever waiting for our checks to the point I had to go find someone to find our waitress so we could leave. We were all astonished at the pricing. After leaving it occurred to us that gratuity must have already been added on because everything just was not adding up… only explanation for it being that high and if so shame on them for not informing us of that because we all still tipped extremely generously, regardless of our poor experience. Yes we should have dug into the bill further but to by honest I was so taken back by the $130 price tag on the seafood appetizer. No wonder why the place was completely empty on a Saturday night. For the amount of money we spent, we should have left completely WOWED. Not even close. Will never return- save your money and dine else where !

Had a fabulous night at Prime! Enjoyed delicious drinks, apps and entrees served by an attentive and personable server Michaela. It was a tad chilly to sit on patio but there’s no better atmosphere on a nice summer night. Highly recommend!

First things first. You state on your site you have 28 day dry age steaks. Then I drive 2 hours to get there, read the menu that has all over it 28 DAY DRY AGE. Then when I asked the waiter if you have dry age steaks he says that your restaurant stopped doing dryage years and years ago. You should have a class action lawsuit for that. 2nd, the appetizers we're tiny. Not enough for one person. With those prices who's nose candy am I buying amd why are you not sharing?.... I'm paying for it right? 3rd, Health department needs to check in more. The night of we all had explosive Diarra. Food tasted good but the aftermath in my tolite wasn't worth the price. Not to mention I had to take a loan out just to pay for dinner.
