Nice tortilla soup. Tacos are very small, not much meat Int it,
Food is delicious, expensive but good, slow to prepare but good. If you want good food and don't mind paying or waiting for it then this is the place to go.
We were driving through Taber and wanted something different than a national fast-food chain. We chose this (formerly John's Drive-In) due to the favorable reviews. We were at first confused by the name change but figured it was under new management because it was the same address. Sure enough, the new owner said he took over about two years ago.We found the food to be very delicious. I had the Torta pulled-pork sandwich and it was a thing of beauty - very well worth going back again for the taste. After our meal, the kids had a milkshake and a soft-serve vanilla cone. The milkshakes come in three flavors but for some reason the soft-serve has only the one flavor. Anyhow, a sign says their milkshakes and soft-serve are made in-house and you could surely taste the difference. The vanilla actually tastes like real vanilla! So my recommendation: DEFINITELY TRY THEIR MILKSHAKES AND ICE CREAM (if nothing else)!!The cost, however, leaves a bit to be desired. My sandwich was $7.35 and my daughter's taco-in-a-bag was $5.25 Ordering fries/rings and a drink puts you up over $10, sort of like buying a combo at DQ. And the milkshake is quite pricey, over $4, for the rather small cup it comes in. The onion rings order is also small. So I would not call this "cheap eats" but more like mid-range. For the price factor, this place loses a star. One final thing. Each sandwich is served in a white styrofoam box. There were a pile of them in the garbage can which made my family wonder, how much waste does this place generate in a day/month/year? Would it not be less waste AND cheaper to wrap them in paper/foil? Just a thought, and I wish I would have thought of mentioning this to the owner. So bottom line, not the greatest value but the food is certainly delicious if you're willing to pay for it.
