Chang Thai Express - Tacoma

We stopped here on a whim after reading the good Google reviews...and it was amazing!! I ordered the Pad See Ew and my mom had the Pad Thai... both were so fresh and flavorful! We were surprised that the owner cooked everything herself back in the kitchen...she was sooo sweet, too! If you are looking for a fantastic little hidden gem for Thai food... look no further than Chaya Thai!

The best Thai food I've ever had, the server was lovely and very kind. Quiet atmosphere, food came out super fast too!

This has been my recent go to place for Thai food. The service is amazing, the lady that runs it all is so friendly, kind, and truly cares about what she does. I tend to stick to Chicken Pad Thai and will ask for special things like extra green onion and it is always delicious. It’s nice to regularly go somewhere and be remembered too. It’s a cute small restaurant that is perfect for a cozy casual meal. It’s also nice to just take to go as the service is prompt. I’ve tried other things on the menu all of which are good too.

The food is so good here. The lady in the counter, she's also the one making the food. She entertained my request to remove the ice from my iced tea as I have asthma. She's very nice. I will definitely go back to this shop as the price is also cheaper compared with other Thai restaurants.

I really wish I could give a higher score, but the meal was uninspiring. I felt so bad because there was one person running everything waitress, cook, and bussing. We ordered the calamari that costs nearly $11.00 and was shocked to see 4 calamari rings and 1 very small rung come out half burned. The fried chicken wings did not look like the picture on the menu. I got the Tom Kha and asked for tofu, but got chicken instead. This did not taste like it had enough spice (I asked for 4 stars) and it did not taste like it had any lemongrass. We also ordered the pineapple fried rice that again didn’t have any heat and lacked pineapple flavor. Overall, I would not return.
