First off, I have been to the other Meconi's in Hawks Prairie and Lacey and have never had a bad experience there. My son and I were excited to go here because we like the other locations so much. I got the meatball sub; my son got the chicken parm sub. We decided to split the sandwiches because we each said we were thinking about the others when we ordered. While the sandwiches weren't bad, they weren't that great. Neither of us will get them again. The meatball sub was ok; it appears the meatballs are made from scratch which was baffling because the chicken parm sub looks like it was made from chicken tenders. That was disappointing because the menu said cutlet. Although tenders are technically cutlets, I was expecting a breaded chicken breast. Neither of us were particularly in love with the tomato sauce on the sandwiches, it was a little too rustic for us with large chunks of tomato. The fries were good. It looked like the oil was fresh and they were nice and crispy. I liked our server, I'm sorry I forgot her name. She was informative when it came to the beer selection, but was a little slow when we first arrived. Overall, it was disappointing because I had such high expectations from Meconi's brand. I may go there again, I just won't order the same thing.
Quite disappointed. Was there recently in the evening with coworkers and never again will I get their french dip sandwich. Though the sandwich tasted ok, the bread was not toasted, was a cheap squishy low quality roll, and the amount of roast beef should have made it a $2 sandwich. There was very little. I was starving like an hour later which is not a good sign because I do not eat very much. The server was nice, but, could have been more attentive. My friend's IPA beers were $7. I know that we are in inflation right now, but this is Tacoma, not downtown Seattle. Just... No.
We came in here last night (a Saturday) because a fight broke out at “the office” a few doors down and the had to close to clean up the damage. We came in an told the girls behind the bar “you guys are about to get slammed” (then explained why) they looked at each other with the nastiest looks on their faces and said “great love that for us” my wife mentioned later that the girls were rude when she went up a second time. We were with 2 other people who ordered separately and the also mentioned the girls were super rude. 3 of the people in the group actively work in the service industry and I previously have. You would think they would be at least in a semi positive mood that they were going to make extra money on a Saturday night considering hardly anyone goes to this bar in the first place. People have always told me “I just don’t like it there” “no let’s just walk somewhere else” “ew no I don’t want to go there” I can see why the staff was SUPER rude. However I did read a previous review that mentioned that they treated a POC poorly and the past and there were 2 POC in our group. (That’s not what it felt like to me but you honestly never know these days)
