I love the food.. but the place needs improvement..
This branch serves their iconic traditional chicken meal well but at a different cooking method compared to the original location
Payag's chicken barbecue is a prime example of Bohol's distinctive take on inasal. While Bacolod's chicken inasal pairs nicely with chicken sauce, here in Payag's (and throughout Bohol), it is best enjoyed with a salty fish sauce condiment known as patis. If you're visiting Bohol for the first time, you absolutely must try Payag's chicken inasal (barbecue). They also offer unlimited rice and serve other delicious dishes like sisig.
I initially planned to go to a different restaurant, but I ended up at Payag and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. Payag is a sister company of Jo's Chicken Inato, which I already love. We really enjoyed the Sizzling Gambas, which has a perfect balance of spicy and sweet flavors. The Lumpiang Shanghai was savory without being overly greasy. Their version of Kinilaw was incredible, and the Tinolang Isdang Tangigue was superb. The staff provided excellent service—very attentive and energetic. I also appreciated the lovely view from their balcony.
