To elaborate, Broth: rich texture and there’s depth in flavor Noodles: firm Meat: tender and well-marinated Toppings: generous My eyes grew big over their cutlet curry rice. I wasn’t prepared for a large serving. Even 2 persons can enjoy and share it, or 3 persons when they order plenty. There was a generous amount of rice and curry sauce. The tonkatsu was cooked perfectly (and had good, tasty breading too . I thought we were only getting tonkatsu and curry, but there was more. There was pork meat in the curry sauce which was surprisingly good and tender as well. The classic ramen and cutlet curry both deserve merit. Their busy kitchen already gave me a good feeling about the restaurant. I had been to expensive Japanese restaurants, but who would’ve thought that one of the best tasting Japanese dishes can also be found in such budget-friendly place? Usually, the total bill would be around 800-900 PHP, but dining at this place only costed us 525. Great find! As to the authenticity, I cannot attest to it because I have not been to Japan and even when I had dined in expensive Japanese restaurants claiming that they serve authentic Japanese dishes. But one thing’s for sure: Asahi Ramen serves one of the best tasting ramen and curry dishes out there. Aside from the food, the place was notably clean and spacious. Even if the place is operating at full-capacity, there would still be enough room to be able to eat comfortably. They also have parking space. We actually arrived there 30 mins. before their closing time (Google Maps says it closes at 8:30 PM but actually it’s 8:00 PM and yet, we still received good customer service. The food and service were not done in a hasty manner; they were consistently done at its best despite closing time. I appreciated that. [UPDATE] We tried other dishes off the menu: GYOZA. The amount of vegetables was proportional to the meat. Overall, it was flavorful. Also, the dark soy sauce complemented the dish very well. Sakto lang yung saltiness. Umami! KARAAGE. Deep fried but not greasy. Crunchy, tender and tasty. Well-cooked. No signs of salmonella. OKONOMIYAKI. Great presentation. Taste-wise, not to my liking but not bad. I’m sure others can appreciate it. Old reviews say food was bad. It isn’t the case now. Asahi has improved so much.
The ramen smelled off and the bubbles were concerning to me, usually means scum or impurities. I would 've stopped there but I wanted to see why people would rate this place so high. The taste was okay, it was more like batchoy than ramen. Also, the egg was also overcooked, the egg-yellow was almost powdery. The mark up on the reg drinks was also absurd, like ice-tea or coke, so I only had a water. High price for weird smelling, okay tasting batchoy ramen . 2 stars because the place was clean and air-conditioned. But the food is a 1, will not revisit this place for sure

They serve authentic Japanese food. People say they serve the best tasting ramen and okonomiyaki in Tagum City. I ordered their All-Day Special which is a combination of Classic Ramen Futo Maki for only Ph350, and it did not disappoint! I also tried Dynamite Cheese. They offer big servings at an affordable price. Service: Dine in
