In Kagaya's public bath areas their employees do not strictly enforce the rules about other customers bringing smart phones (with cameras) into the bathing and changing areas where, as in Japan, the bathers are naked. When alerted to the problem, they don't respond and solve the issue. People go to hot springs to relax, and it is absolutely NOT RELAXING to have people with smart phone cameras in the changing and bathing areas.
Came here on a whim with my wife and 2 kids (aged 2 and 4) and walked in for 1.5 hr in a private onsen room. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We were escorted to the room and were very surprised how big it was. There was an outdoor section to the bath and inside had a bed with a TV for the kids. Can't say how amazing our experience was, just what we needed! Afterwards we stopped in the cafe for a coffee and desert, both were excellent! Can't wait to come back someday.
This was truly one of the most amazing hotel stays I have ever experienced. Everything from the service to the food was simply wonderful. We had a chance to meet Joanne Lin who was an incredible guide, incredibly attentive and accessible. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast. A truly exceptional stay, would highly recommend the Radium Kagaya if you are visiting Beitou!
THE highlight of my trip to Taiwan! Felt like I was in Japan again. These are must tries: the afternoon tea ceremony, the fancy cocktail lounge, the Japanese breakfast buffet (high quality sashimi!!! , and of course their public and private onsens. Finally thank you to Joanne Lin and all the staff for such excellent service.
