We were here twice and both times were fantastic. They take care of many nutritional needs and the food is amazing. A friendly and cozy atmosphere. Every trip to Japan requires a visit for us to Heianraku.
They were amazing from the beginning and asked about diet and food allergies. They treat you like family. This is the first restaurant that has woven me into a review in a long time. You are busy so I recommend a reservation before the time.
We booked the day before and checked that they had vegetarian options. It is a small place run by a couple. When we were there, it had 7 customers and was posted. The English menu puts meat eaters dishes on the left and vegan and vegetarian side. We were advised of the content when ordering and as dishes. Very vegetarian and vegan conscious. We ordered a vegetarian meal for 2 which was absolutely delicious and filled. It included appetizers and deserts. The desert was a cow milk almond pudding and a black sesame soy pudding (that was excellent). The owners were engaged and chatted when the customer's signal was that they wanted this. If that were in my hometown, I'd be regular.
Delicious food and friendly staff! Not only did the menu include vegan items, it was also clearly marked that vegan food excludes all meat, milk products, eggs, and honey, We had the gyoza, yaki miso, and yaki tofu. The meal came with an appetizer of local veggies and a really delicious potato in sauce. Everything tasted incredible! And the staff was so helpful and friendly! They even gave us a delicious tangerine and some Happy Cow stickers on our way out! Definitely coming back next time I visit Takayama!
