Rootstock Pours Plates - Tallahassee

Overall, great culinary experience! Well located downtown with updated decor and a voice vibe. Server was very attentive and knowledgeable. We shared a number of tapas plates and a charcuterie board between our table and were not disappointed.

On arrival at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday night everything was nice. We sat in a booth that would have made a comfortable conversation. Unfortunately, at 7:30, casual conversation among the four of us was impossible. The sound level was so loud that you only had to be heard by the person sitting next to you.

Service was great. Don't eat so great. Although the cheese board was good, the scallops were not good at all (except the cabbage on which they were great) frozen and we are too salty and crab cake was terrible. Quantities of filler and strange taste. For comparison, the crab cake in Il Lusso is great.

The location is somewhat romantic and mysterious and has alot of potential. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, beet salad and steak to split. Many things went wrong: 1) the wine took too long to get to us (both rounds) 2) the appetizer and entree was brought out together, before the salad. 3) After we finished the meal, the salad was still not there which we canceled. It still showed up on the bill and had to be taken off. The food was OK, but lukewarm in temperature. Also, higher service restaurants will automatically split the meals for people. We had to ask for a second plate. The servers seemed young and inexperienced. Hopefully, with time, they will pull it all together.

Great charcuterie+cheese board and wine list! Nice atmosphere, and something new and different for downtown. Bar looked great for grabbing a drink after work or before a game/event at the civic center.
