El Sapo - Tamarindo

What a fun discovery! El Sapo Risto is located in Playa Langosta, just a 25-minute walk from the center of Tamarindo (much quicker if you don't have a four-year-old in tow). The restaurant offers a separate vegetarian menu with a variety of unique options. They were willing to make a veggie pizza vegan for us, but also had two separate and clearly marked vegan pizzas on the menu. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We ordered the Vegetarian Pizza without cheese and the Vegan Sapo Ortolana, which featured a creamy broccoli sauce topped with mushrooms, eggplant, garlic, and cherry tomatoes. Both pizzas were moist and flavorful, unlike some vegan pizzas that can be dry without cheese. The broccoli sauce was a tasty alternative to tomato sauce. The veganized Vegetarian Pizza was also delicious, with a generous amount of tomato sauce. Both pizzas had excellent hand-stretched bases and were cooked in a wood-fired oven. They were truly delicious! The prices were reasonable as well, with each pizza costing $7 and being more than enough to feed three people.
