On Saturday, September 23rd, we were in the Alexander next door to the restaurant. Knowing they close at 10pm, we attempted to get in at bang on 9pm but were told no-one was allowed in after 9, it was 9pm, but we weren 't going to argue the point so we went elsewhere. Then again, tonight 21/10/2023, we decided we wouldn 't make that mistake again, so we went at 7:45pm. OK, we hadn 't booked, but thought they 'd be able to squeeze us in. We asked for a table for three people, but were told, as we hadn 't booked, we couldn 't go in. I looked around the room and there seemed to be a few empty table. Anyway we left the premises, then decided we 'd go back in and get takeaway. While we were waiting in the queue at the takeaway section, we were shocked to hear the lady on the door, tell a group of four people, who asked for a table and hadn 't pre-booked, Yes, we can squeeze you in! What the heck is that all about? Discrimination against football fans? We weren 't drunk or unruly, so why the prejudice?
Spotlessly clean with a wonderful ambiance. Very friendly, helpful staff. Great food, three doggie bags taken away. We will happily return.
Amazing always. Food is so tasty and varied and you can take home anything you don't eat. Highly recommended for families and couples alike. Great service and lovely toilets (always a sign of a great restaurant! . Lovely shop to take things away too.
Everything was amazing the food, service, value for money and the restaurant. Everyone who served us was incredibly helpful and friendly. They have an exceptional menu. They guided us through it with ease and patience. They encouraged us to order starters and then later order meals after we were eating our starters. It was a great idea. We had more time to enjoy our starters and process what we wanted next. Each dish was phenomenal. The variety of textures and flavors was exceptional. My favourite was the filled dosa and the Chaat sweet and sour. My partners was the 'butter paneer masala ' (vegan). I rarely return to a place, but this place is the exception to my rule. I will happily return next time I visit Manchester.
We have always loved lillys and have been many times, so we decided to go for dinner to celebrate some work achievements, however we were really disappointed, we booked a table ahead of the evening, our poppadoms arrived no problem at all then there was an hour and half wait for our main courses with no explanation from staff, I asked one staff member and she said it was due to take away orders, I then asked a second member of staff who stated they had forgot our order, when our main courses did arrived they looked thrown together, and they where very small portions compared when we had been before, the staff where apologetic about our wait and discounted our food, I was disappointed in the service and the food sadly.
