Great food and wonderful staff!! Cute bar area and nice views of the town! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Where do I start. The food was too salty, the pasta was soggy, and the background music was hysterically bad. To top it off this is the first time I have seen a living wage fee of 10% which supposedly goes to the kitchen staff and is separate from what you tip for the service. The prices are already high and the owner should just pay the kitchen staff a livable wage instead of passing on the cost to customers. Service: Dine in
A group of 4 visited Tabla for dinner on a Sunday night around 5pm. We had no issues getting seated. The ambiance is nice, it 's next to a nice river/creek and inside is fairly spacious. The food was ok. FOOD: We got the trio of dips (whipped feta, muhamara, and beet tahini), the fried artichokes, the cavatelli and pesto dish, and sides were the greens (collard greens) and crispy potatoes. The dips were pretty good. We 'd probably get something else in place of the beet tahini. The muhammara was good. The artichokes were good and the sauces to dip them in (marinara-type and a white aioli) were good. The cavatelli dish with pesto and tomatoes was not good. Two couples got it, and neither found it tasty. It was very bland. Pesto usually has a strong profile, but this had none. I understand bland is subjective, but all 4 of us thought it had no pesto flavor. The crispy potatoes were good. This is by no means an insult to the restaurant, rather a relative description and our opinion. SERVICE: Everyone was super friendly and professional. A nice welcome, checking the heat in our area were all little details that stand out. There were a couple areas with room for improvement. We ordered a soup to come out as an entrée but it came out as a starter. We asked for several things multiple times. I will be fair and say that they did accommodate my last minute change to an entrée though, so that was definitely a plus. Overall, my recommendation would be to taste test (with others) the pesto pasta dish and let the pesto shine, it needs more flavor there. Also, just a bit more focus on what patrons are asking for.
We've had a few really fabulous meals here. And fantastic cocktails! The space is gorgeous, too, with a terrace perched over the creek. They change the menu regularly, so not everything all the time is off the charts, but that's pretty common with chef-y restaurants that change it up. I also really appreciate how regularly it's open, which is uncommon in the Catskills. Meal type: Dinner
