We live in Manhattan and the only reason we opted to stay here was to eliminate having to drive home after the wedding. This hotel didn't meet the usual Sheraton standards. It felt run down and basic. Only one elevator worked the day we were checking out, so the wait was extremely long. For the price of the room, breakfast wasn't even included. There was no coffee/tea in the lobby and only one bottle of complimentary water for being a Bonvoy member. The pool/jacuzzi was the only highlight during our stay, but you would need to get the front desk to open the door as room cards don't work. The AC in the room was blasting when we arrived, and as such, warming up took a long time. The updated shower was nice though.
Having just read some of the comments from guests recent stays... it amuses me to see this hotel has not improved since we stayed there in 2017... SIX YEARS AGO!!We made a complaint about extra money being charged to our card, after we had checked out and left, with no reasons given.. got the money back after a lengthy tussel of emails (we live in the UK)...The lifts didn't function correctly on our stay... the pool was also closed when we stayed... and we considered the food and drinks to be wildly overpriced... thank goodness for the adjacent grocery store... our saviour for all our meals and beverages during our stay.To sum up, I honestly think that the people who stay here... and say they enjoy it... must have more money than sense!!However on a positive note.. I will say that the staff were really nice and hospitable... such a shame they have to put up with all the complaints.
We used Sheraton Tarrytown for our wedding block and held our rehearsal dinner and brunch the day after the wedding here. Overall we had a very positive experience. The rooms are clean and spacious. We were able to get a suite to do hair and make-up in for the wedding. All our guests were checked in quickly and received their proper gift bags. We were very pleased with the service at the bar and restaurant and everyone was friendly. A huge advantage of this hotel is the Starbucks connected to the lobby. Our guests were very pleased to get gourmet coffee early in the morning, and it was always well staffed.I worked with Barbara to organize the dinner and brunch. They have a smaller event space, but it is cozy and comfortable. It also has an outdoor terrace guests can use. It probably shouldn't be used for groups of more than about 50, but it was much nicer than many of the other similar hotel event spaces we looked at nearby. The dinner was set up nicely. Appetizers were ready when the guests arrived and a little bar in the corner served wine and beer. The only downside to the dinner was they obviously are not used to serving larger-sized groups. It took them over an hour to get entrees to our 40 guests, and the dinner food was mediocre at best. It was well spiced, but the cook could only do so much with the sad portions of steak (supposedly ribeye, but I'm not so sure) and salmon provided. Overall it was the perfect room and atmosphere for our group and it was well worth the price. The brunch was much better than the dinner foodwise. We had options of french toast, other pastries, coffee, and the usual hotel breakfast fare. I was especially impressed by their attentiveness to our request of no pork products. They were able to substitute turkey bacon and turkey sausage. I would highly recommend using the hotel for a larger breakfast or brunch service.Overall we had a great experience with the Sheraton. We paid extra for their bar to be open to 1:30 AM on the night of the wedding, and the bartender was fun and accommodating. They were easy to work with and none of our guests had any major issues. Would recommend considering them for weddings or other small to medium-sized events.
Rooms and folks are good, skip the breakfast and find a restaurant or fast food, at least there the coffee is easy access.Rooms: Just needs better ventilation, too humid and musty
For the last five plus years I typically staying at this hotel at least once a month, even though out the COVID era. From my experience the staff is exceptionally friendly and willing to do what they can to accommodate your needs. The hotel is showing its age, but compared to other local hotels around the same price point the Tarrytown Sheraton is a better value. The HVAC system in the rooms can be noisy, but it has been effective. Rooms have plenty of outlets allowing you to charge a laptop and a phone or two. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. Sound wise I rarely hear other guests.I also appreciate the plentiful and well lighted free parking that is located at the front of the building. Snow removal in the winter has been good.Only negatives that I have seen with this building are with some of the older rooms. You will find the occasional carpet stain and furniture that has the odd dent or scrape. The room doors also have battle scars from people moving in and out with luggage. That being said the doors are secure. In conclusion the Tarrytown Sheraton is my go to hotel when I am in the Tarrytown area.Cheers
