Unfortunately, this hotel did not live up to the usual Sheraton standards. It felt worn and rather basic. On the day we checked out, only one elevator was operating, resulting in extremely long wait times. Given the room's price, breakfast was not included, which was disappointing. There was no coffee or tea available in the lobby, and we only received one bottle of complimentary water as Bonvoy members. The pool and jacuzzi were the only highlights of our stay, but accessing them required assistance from the front desk since the room cards didn't work. Upon arrival, the air conditioning in our room was set to a very low temperature, making it take a while to warm up. On a positive note, the updated shower was quite nice.
In summary, I genuinely believe that guests who enjoy their stay here must have more money than common sense! On a positive note, I do want to acknowledge that the staff were very kind and hospitable. It's a shame they have to deal with so many complaints.
I worked with Barbara to coordinate the dinner and brunch. Although the event space is smaller, it felt cozy and comfortable, with an outdoor terrace that guests could enjoy. While it may not be suitable for groups larger than 50, it was definitely more appealing than many similar hotel venues we considered. The dinner setup was nice, with appetizers ready for guests upon arrival and a small bar in the corner serving wine and beer. However, there was a noticeable delay, taking over an hour to serve entrees to our 40 guests. The dinner food was just mediocre; while it was well-seasoned, the portions—particularly the steak (which was supposedly ribeye, but I have my doubts) and salmon—were disappointing. Still, the room's ambiance was perfect for our gathering, and we felt the overall experience was worth the price. The brunch exceeded our expectations compared to the dinner. We were offered a variety of dishes, including French toast, pastries, coffee, and standard hotel breakfast items. I was particularly impressed with their flexibility regarding our request to avoid pork products, as they provided turkey bacon and sausage instead. I would definitely recommend the hotel for larger breakfast or brunch services. In conclusion, our experience with the Sheraton was fantastic. We opted to extend the bar hours to 1:30 AM on our wedding night, and the bartender was both fun and accommodating throughout the evening. They were easy to work with, and none of our guests encountered any major issues. I would recommend considering this venue for weddings or other small to medium-sized events.
Rooms and folks are good, skip the breakfast and find a restaurant or fast food, at least there the coffee is easy access.Rooms: Just needs better ventilation, too humid and musty
For the last five plus years I typically staying at this hotel at least once a month, even though out the COVID era. From my experience the staff is exceptionally friendly and willing to do what they can to accommodate your needs. The hotel is showing its age, but compared to other local hotels around the same price point the Tarrytown Sheraton is a better value. The HVAC system in the rooms can be noisy, but it has been effective. Rooms have plenty of outlets allowing you to charge a laptop and a phone or two. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. Sound wise I rarely hear other guests.I also appreciate the plentiful and well lighted free parking that is located at the front of the building. Snow removal in the winter has been good.Only negatives that I have seen with this building are with some of the older rooms. You will find the occasional carpet stain and furniture that has the odd dent or scrape. The room doors also have battle scars from people moving in and out with luggage. That being said the doors are secure. In conclusion the Tarrytown Sheraton is my go to hotel when I am in the Tarrytown area.Cheers
