Visited with friends. Four of us had the Acadian Orange French Toast with maple syrup ( served with three pieces of bacon and fresh fruit), and two had bacon and eggs. Everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly, and the service was friendly and attentive. Prices were very reasonable with $9.99 for the meal, so with coffee or tea, two can dine for $27.99 excluding tip. They also have a selection of muffins, scones and biscuits, all made daily on site. There is also a gift shop with many interesting items, and you will probably see the conductor at some point during your visit.Highly recommended.
The renovated train car, set next to an old renovated train station, is just such a beautiful setting. A trip to the past. It was fun to enjoy a meal in a rail car. The service was friendly. Excellent home made tea biscuits instead of rolls. I ordered the mac&cheese with lobster, it was good but did not have enough lobster. I can overlook this because the setting was so charming. My husband had the soup of the day, a local lamb and vegetable soup and it was excellent! Great salad also. Very friendly service.
The dining room is in a dining car of an old train. The tables are so close together, you can practically rub elbows with the diners three tables over. All conversations can be heard from the car. No room for privacy at all. Having said that, it was a charming experience and one I wouldn't trade. The staff was wonderful and the train car and old station experience well worth the trip. Can't say the food stood out in my memory, but that usually means it wasn't bad.
Theis was an interesting experience, particularly given that there was only a small number of 'tables' available in the dining car. The daily special was plentiful, inexpensive and delicious. As someone who does enjoy good food, I really enjoyed this experience.
