The cheese and bacon pie ($5.50), accompanied by a tangy tomato sauce ($0.40), is a solid choice with tender steak chunks nestled in rich gravy. It’s served without a pie tin, but the sturdy pastry ensures it holds together nicely even when hot. I was quite pleased with it until I tried the even more impressive potato pie ($5.60). Its crusty golden top conceals creamy potato mash with a hint of white pepper, making it an absolute delight. While the sourdough didn’t quite impress me, the standout item is definitely the kalamata olive baguette ($6). I suspect the juicy kalamata olives, which remain moist within the soft white baguette, are sourced from another local business, Contadino olives. We paired ours with cheese from Central Tilba, flavored with Mystery Bay kelp, keeping our meal truly representative of the NSW South Coast.
The meat pie was really delicious—hot and perfectly formed. I could easily eat it with one hand without any filling falling out. And a cold drink to go with it? What more could you ask for?
