While visiting the hospital with my family to see my grandmother, I ordered a piece of carrot cake and hot chocolate at the cafe. Unfortunately, the cake had green mold on it. I returned it to the waitress, who said she would arrange a refund once the manager got off the phone. Despite repeated reminders, the manager stayed in his office for a long time, ignoring the issue. Eventually, I received a refund after 20 minutes. The whole situation was poorly handled and lacked consideration, especially given the circumstances of my visit to the hospital. Serving moldy food is unacceptable, and the manager's behavior was rude. A more efficient refund system should be in place. It was an unnecessary upset that could have been easily avoided.
It is always stressful having a hospital appointment so afterwards I wanted to relax with a nice coffee. It was weak, hence no crema and little taste. I returned it but did not fancy the replacement that was offered. The cafe looked clean and spacious but the coffee did not live up to expectations. They have a 'captive audience ' so this was very disappointing.
It's such a relief to escape the world of stress and illness and find a peaceful refuge with a delicious flat white coffee! Even though it's part of the commercial area, having a Costa Coffee in the local hospital is a welcomed addition.
This Costa location is conveniently situated at Somerset's main hospital, serving people in a variety of circumstances with little competition. I have ordered an iced black Americano from their 'talented' baristas on three recent occasions. Despite my clear instructions for just coffee and ice, they continued to add a mystery syrup to my drink. The staff's attitude towards mistakes was also disappointing, with one incident resulting in a rude interaction. Overall, this Costa location is one of the worst I've ever experienced, rivaling only one near Paddington Station in London.
