Upon arrival we were greeted in the traditional Ruisden way of ignoring you totally. We then sat down in a room that resembled a working man’s club you would only find in a 1970s mining town. Once we had established ourselves on the bench seats that were harder than wolverines claws, we ordered 3 pints of san Miguel which came to £18. Which considering we weren’t paying for any other bar staff, upkeep of decor, entertainment or any sign of additional costs i thought was a bit steep. Having settled in and enjoyed two more rounds we noticed his only other customer had left and so we got up to order an he told us that the bar was closed and that f course it was our fault because in Ruishton the normal way to call last orders is to stay behind the bar dead still and stare vaguely into the distance till someone comes and orders a pint and you get the pleasure of telling them to metaphorically “ eff off”. Would recommend to no one
Avoid. Absolutely awful food, worse experience I have ever had total waste of money, microwave used to heat the meals and they were all burnt to a crisp, complained but the manageress was not interested
Called in on spec for an evening meal . Made very welcome Excellent local beer and very tasty food with selection of fresh vegetables. It is very much a country pub despite being close to Taunton with an interesting decor.Fully recommend
We stayed two nights at the Premier Inn a couple of minutes walk from the hotel was the Ruishton Inn. Local country pub and as the hotel didn’t have a bar or restaurant we went there rather than the Miller Carter next door. Support local was the idea. Sadly the pub food was shocking. We were sat next to the kitchen and constantly head beep beep beep. The lady running the kitchen was cooking everything in the microwave which led to us receiving 2 adult and two kids meals which weren’t edible. We paid and left but my wife couldn’t leave without passing comment which they didn’t seem to care about. The prices were high for what was on offer and quality wasn’t worth half the price. If you stay at the Premier inn use the Miller Carter next door
This charming country pub is conveniently located within walking distance of the Premier Inn. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and the staff are attentive. The menu offers a good variety of options, making it a great spot to enjoy a cozy winter evening.
