I ordered a takeaway at 6.15 and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later and was told it would be 2 minutes away. At 7.45 I walked out with my money back because they hadn’t even started preparing my order. Ironic that they proudly display an award for best Indian restaurant in Tauranga for 2018. Obviously customer service and communication wasn’t a factor. It’s a shame because the food is usually outstanding but the wait was beyond belief. Unless of course the halal preparation of my goat had to wait until dawn the following day or the rice was still in the paddy fields growing. There was also a table of 8 who walked out after waiting for an hour simply to be served their pre meal drinks. If as I was told they were short staffed then you shouldn’t continue to take orders. Customer service is the foundation to any business, you really need to address your issues quickly while you still have a restaurant.
Really disappointed on two lamb biryani we ordered today. Rice was overcooked and was sticky and wet. Curd's texture is watery and taste is also same. We have tried a couple of times this place and food was in average quality but nothing major to complain. But today is the worst. It looks like food is made carelessly or by a first time chef. I would definitely avoid this place next time. There are far better places out there.
I don 't normally post reviews, but we were profoundly disappointed with our meal last night. Not only were they 40min delayed in bringing the food out for us to pick up, but we could tell that the meals had been made very cheaply. The meat dishes consisted of 5 small pieces of meat swimming in sauce and the vegetarian curries were made from bags of frozen veg (broccoli, red capsicum, green beans, corn etc). One of the meals had about half the amount in the box compared to the other and the onion bhajis were dripping in oil.. You could tell this was a 'for profit ' restaurant with no real heart or pride in the meals they make. All in all, $93 and I can 't say we will be back.
I absolutely love the food here; however, the service can be quite slow. The restaurant seems to be understaffed—just the other night, there were only two people managing everything. This means the lady at the front often has to handle frustrated customers, but she remains very friendly and pleasant. I can't overlook the great food and good people too easily. Just be sure to visit when you have some time to spare. They offer excellent vegetarian options, and I'm a big fan of their samosas and butter paneer!
