Trattoria Vattagne - Tegna

The location is quite off the beaten track and the turnoff easy to miss, but well worth the effort once you climb to the very top of this little hillside spot opposite Ponte Brolla. The interior with its blazing fireplace was warm and welcoming on this chilly autumn afternoon, and Eros, the owner and chef, prepared us a delicious Ticino platter of coldcuts and cheese, followed by some very tasty pasta. I always enjoy coming here and recommend it without hesitation.

Bellissima posizione. Sono andata a pranzo con amici. La scelta era molto scarsa avevano terminato diversi alimenti e la disponibilita della signora era minima.I miei amici hanno mangiato della buona carne alla griglia con patate. Io ho richiesto dei gamberoni con riso (il riso e' presente nel menu) credo non avevano voglia di lavorare perche mi e' stato risposto che i gamberoni venivano serviti con le patate.Non ci tornero piu

Wir waren früher gerne und regelmäßig im Vatagne. Seit 2013 ist aber ein neuer Pächter drauf, offenbar ehemaliger Polizist (daher mitunter Polizeiautos vor dem Haus und ehemalige Kollegen genießen bevorzugten Service). Leider sind Service und Speisen nicht mehr angemessen: was auf den Tisch kommt, kann jede Hausfrau besser zubereiten. Service unaufmerksam und oberflächlich. Wirklich schade.

It's easy to miss the turnoff to this place, but well worth stopping for. Perched at the top of a narrow, winding road, the peace and quiet of Vattagne make it a rewarding stop. The service is charming and attentive; the food is simple and authentic. Nice outdoor seating area. The indoor dining room is a bit dark in the evening, but candles make up for that. I felt transported back to an earlier era before Ticino became so popular and touristy. If you're looking for a quaint, family-run place that serves authentic local dishes, go see Eros and Tati at Vattagne.
