Lord Haldon Country House - Teignbridge

We were lucky enough to stay here as a birthday gift from the family Hard to find I must admit but once we did everything was great Lovely service nice choice of drinks, the food menu was a bit limited but I don’t want to take away anything from this fact. No doubt it’s because the hotel was so very quiet! We stayed two nights and we were very very cosy! We will be back in the summer to try it out again Thank you!

The dinner was terrible, unappetizing, the chicken was tough, and the vegetables were gray. The presentation was terrible. The photos on display must have been from when a guest chef was cooking, because what we got was worse quality than a cafeteria. The restaurant is large and brightly lit, not cozy or inviting at all. There is no atmosphere. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my own experience.

The restaurant served delicious food with attentive table service. I was a bit surprised to see paper napkins instead of cloth ones. The hotel room was exceptionally clean with comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. However, the decor was a bit worn out.

Located in a rural setting, this hotel offers beautiful views of the surrounding fields and convenient parking. The staff, while friendly and helpful, were not always readily available, requiring some effort to seek out assistance. During our stay, the hotel was not crowded, reflecting a typical Best Western experience - dependable but not exceptional. The evening meal was enjoyable, particularly the Calamari, though my sirloin steak was disappointingly tough. Breakfast, however, was excellent. Our room, while functional, lacked any distinctive features and was located on the second floor, which was not ideal for older guests like ourselves.

The hotel was short staffed, but the staff on site went the extra mile to ensure our stay way a good one. Extra credit goes to Mary who was on reception, but double as bar person, cream tea maker and also in the restaurant nothing was too much trouble and all done with a smile. The gardens were trim and lovely. Parking was good. Our room was clean and comfortable. The food was very good. We would stay here again.
