This is the best hummus I have ever had and I absolutely love the atmosphere of this restaurant.
We really enjoyed the hummus and the staff was very friendly.
Yesterday, some new friends took me to Garger Hazahav, located in a neighborhood with several hummus restaurants and dried fruit-nut shops. Hummus restaurants are a new concept for me, offering hummus, pita bread, and other dishes. They are all vegan-friendly and there is a website in Hebrew called vegan-friendly.co.il which lists vegan-friendly places in Israel. At Garger Hazahav, you can ask for an English menu as the entire menu is vegan. The food was delicious, with the only non-vegan option being hard boiled eggs. Dessert, like the vegan malabi pudding, was also tasty. The three types of hummus - chickpea, large white beans, and another I couldn't understand - were all good. The side dishes we tried, including roasted cauliflower, were fantastic. The portions of pita bread were generous, and we enjoyed Turkish coffee or mint tea afterwards. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, but it can get busy so be prepared to wait. The staff was busy but very friendly, and they all spoke English. Overall, it was a great dining experience at Garger Hazahav.
