Old fashion place. In case some one has nostalgic feelings about food and style of 80's restaurant, this place is for you. Level of food and service are in accordance. Prices? Prices are up today.
The restaurant’s unique atmosphere and friendly efficient service are notable, as is their vast array of very well prepared and flavorful starters. My main course, kebabs, arrived only partially cooked and were returned. The next attempt wasn’t much better, but I assumed incorrectly that they were adequately cooked to be safe. How wrong I was! I’ve traveled the world for almost fifty years and suffered food borne illness but twice: India and China, and that’s not to be totally surprising. But I guess if it can happen in Israel it can happen anywhere. This place is best avoided , despite its history and reputation, until they offer Imodium for dessert.
Extremely disappointing... the ambiance looked lively and it smelled good so we had high expectations. The first thing they ask is “will you want some salad” but don’t explain what it is and whether it is complimentary, and they bring you several dishes of hummus and other typical stuff that cost more than 100 shekels. Bread and olives are brought to the table as you sit, they don’t even ask you if you want any, and it is also charged for. Meat is good, but small quantities, see my pictures. Fish is fried, not tasty at all. When you ask for the bill, they give no details of what your ordered. The guy just said “service is not included”. It was our first day in Tel Aviv and we live in Europe, where we have no indication of minimum percentage needed like you can find in the USA. Nothing was written on the receipt either, so we left 20 shekels, which would be quite a good tip for a meal like that in Europe. The waiter stormed back to the table and threw our bank note on the table saying “what is it, is it the tip? It should be at least 10%!” We just put the equivalent of 10% and left, still shocked by the rudeness of the waiter... I do not recommend this restaurant!
Terrible service, the manager has zero customer service and people skills. They served us the wrong food and charged us for it and were shouted us down when we challenged them until we just gave up and left. Plates and glasses were dirty. Food was nothing to write home about. Do not recommend.
