A stopover for lunch, the Swann Inn a nice and typical English cafe with a nice lunch menu. Nice friendly service our children did not want to leave and the food got 5 stars, in one word highly recommended.
One of the worst meals we 've had for a long time! For starters, their lunchtime menu was limited to ploughman 's or ham egg and chips! The special which 2 of our party had was supposed to be a steak pie. It could have been a Fray Bentos tinned pie for all I knew! The meat was gristly and the pastry was stodgy, the veg was hard! Two of our party had a dessert ice cream and a sorbet. They nearly broke their spoons, (not to mention their teeth) as it was frozen absolutely solid! Two of our party had the ploughman 's which consisted of about a quarter of a white loaf, cheese and pickles no presentation to it at all. The only one of us who had a decent meal, was the one who picked the ham egg and chips, that was OK. The worst part came at the end when we asked for the bill, for that load of junk we were charged over £150 for 1 egg and chips, 2 pies and mash, and 2 ploughman 's, plus 2 ice creams and a moderate amount of drinks! Needless to say we will NOT be going back there again. I just don 't understand it, as we 've been there several times in the past and it 's been fine. My wife looked at their website menu, but nowhere did it say that Saturday lunchtime would have a limited menu! Reply to Landlord It should not have been necessary to point out the shortcomings of your menu and the quality of your food , it ought to be second nature for you to do your best! Your customers ARE your business!
Broke our journey at this pub having found details online. Arrived to find only food being served was from a pizza van. I am not able to eat bread. Pub looked lovely but could not provide us with a meal as promised on the website, rather disappointing.
I would not go back to this pub. Alarm bells rang when the menu was presented with no options other than the Sunday roast. Our meals arrived with only 1 roast potato each, a selection of basic boiled vegetables. My nut roast was tasty and well cooked however my partners lamb shank was luke warm and almost cold inside. We chose this place because of a review I had read in a really good book that we often use when choosing a place to eat when we are on.our travels. Unfortunately I have now found out that it changed hands in 2021 and obviously not for the better.
