11-4-21 update: I ordered oxtails? my usual. I?ve come often now since my last review. Oxtails are now 21.99 so $23ish with tax. That?s fine? I know food prices go up so I?m fine with it, especially because I feel like they?re generous with their portions. Well, today I only got 3 small pieces of oxtails on my plate. The rest is rice, mac n cheese and the corn patty? all starch. I don?t think $23 is worth it for 3 small pieces of oxtails. My family has had restaurants in the past and consistency is very important, ESPECIALLY when someone is paying their most expensive item on the menu. If it?s that pricey, at least weigh it for the customer. I?m considering not coming back? which makes me sad, but I don?t want to pay a pretty penny for what I got today. Corn bread was also burnt. I live just down the street from here and tried it for the first time yesterday. Omg? can?t stop thinking about the delicious oxtails and my double side of mac n cheese. I?ve been missing out this entire time!! The oxtail plate is $19.99 but worth the price? have you tried buying uncooked oxtails at the store!?!? They are pricey and then you take them home and hope you cook them right and don?t ruin them. Why take that chance? Just come here! (Also, I see someone?s review about them adding to sugar on the mac n cheese? it?s true and I taste it too but I know of this being a common thing in southern food, especially in their pasta? so I was not too shocked AND it doesn?t mean that it?s not yummy?it?s just different. I?m Mexican and I'm probably not the best one to tell you if this tastes like your mom?s kitchen, but? what I CAN tell you is that this is finger-lickin? good! I?ve tried the other soul food place right in front of West Oaks mall (not too far from The Main Kitchen but don?t go to that other place. Their prices went up but quality did not improve (e.g., lots of chewy pieces in their ground beef . This place is WAY better and for those complaining about the wait time? I

I?m digging this spot ???????? They give you plenty of food and the prices is also good compared to other local soul food/ urban restaurants in the city . I also like the Convenience of them having drive-thru. I highly recommend you pull-up to Main kitchen . I would give them 5 stars but i don?t like my green veggies tasting sweet . The cabbage taste like they added sugar .. and i wasn?t a fan of the dirty rice . However I?d still recommend this restaurant to friends family . #SupportBlackbusinesses?????????

Oh my! Let me tell you something. I haven't had food this good since my great, great grandmother cooked for the family. I ordered oxtails, which came with rice and gravy. I had the best greens and cabbage. But, wait. They also had hot water bread. I WILL be back!!! My Lord, I'm in trouble now that I've found this gem.

The food here was so good! Got the 2 meats(Catfish Rib Tips) and 2 sides(Cabbage Mac n? Cheese) I was a little surprised by the cost but once I got the food and saw the amount definitely made it worth it. Will definitely be coming back!

Friendly staff, professional. Food yams and mac was delicious. I forgot to ask for no gray on my rib tips, I'm not a gravy person. So that's my fault. Net time I like bbq'd fresh rib tips. I'll try them again.
