CURRENT The Westin at The Woodlands

Brought my wife to Current for her birthday. It was very romantic at night as it is next to the Waterway in The Woodlands. Very nice and new hotel that is accommodating.

It 's a really nice setting, overlooking the fountains and river walk, and the service was outstanding. I ordered the Mahi mahi, which was beautifully presented, but a bit overcooked and cool, which is always a chance one takes when ordering fish. We started the dinner with drinks at their bar, the Sidebar, downstairs. The Sidebar offers an outdoor seating area. One big criticism is the swanky decor. None of us could sit comfortably on the couches or chairs without sliding off...looks nice, but dysfunctional. We claimed dining chairs at a table.

LOVE Current!! A little slow the night we were there. It wasn't busy there at all (maybe two other tables), but dinner took an hour and and a half. Was enjoying company of friends so it's all good. Food is always delicious. Staff are always professional.

Surprised. Half of the dinner menu was lunch items that were only available for lunch. So Entree 's consisted of about 5 items. Really disappointing. Atmosphere was spectacular with great window views. But the lack of food choices was a surprise. Hardly anyone was there, and the waiter took till after the appetizer arrived to bring drinks. He said something about having to Go Upstairs to get them. Definitely not making plans to return anytime soon. Someone invested a heck of a lot of money to make such a beautiful restaurant, to spoil it with such a mediocre menu.

I was very disappointed in our experience. When we arrived, we waited at the lack of hostess stand for a good 3 minutes before anyone came over to us. Once seated, we ordered our drinks. The waiter came back and took our appetizer and salad order without bringing our drinks. Our appetizers were served. Still no drinks. And no salad. Appetizers were cleared. Still no drinks or salad. Our first drink was served with our meal. Still no salad. I could understand if the restaurant was crowded but there were maybe 6 tables filled. The food was delicious, but the service was subpar.
