Taqueria Las Gemelas - Theodore

The food was good, but they're not ready for prime time. The menus are scarce, no margaritas, chips n salsa extra, pay by card they have to swipe it at the little grocery store, interior not appealing. In general, they are just unorganized.

Food is good but shop is extremely dirty. Not sure how they got a 92 score from inspection. Ordered take out for that reason. I ordered and was told 20 min. I went to pick it up after 20 min. They rang me up and i paid. The cashiers were eating at the same time as serving customers it took another 20 min after I paid to get my food. I don't think they started fixing it until I paid. Much priority seemed to be given to other patrons that spoke Spanish :

If you like non-Texmex, do yourself a favor and visit here. It can be a little hard to find because it's easy to overlook and looks different (something almost like a shack, inside a high wire fence, next to a small mom/pop store about the size of your living room). They spoke little English when we visited, but that's on me for not being able to speak anything besides English. They gave us the English menu, but even it was not easy for me to follow, but I used my picture clues and ordered the 3-meat tacos while my wife had a beef dish of some sort. They were great, and I could eat just their rice alone every day. For breakfast even. Yep, they have some quirks--no H2O to drink apparently, charge for the chips and green salsa (very hot, very good), and it seems they have to run next door to use a debit card (pick up the pork skins and hard-to-find spices if you go there). I'll definitely return. The whole place had a personality, and it's the best authentic Mexican I've had in Mobile or Baldwin county.

We were sooooo excited to eat here. On our way home from the beach, we were searching on Yelp and saw so many amazing reviews. We love authentic Mexican cuisine and were looking forward to trying a new place. The food was horrible. I read the reviews and the salsa is supposedly good. They claimed to not have any chips or salsa but I kind of felt like they were purposefully standoff ish toward us and just said they didn't. Also, no margs. I got fajitas (can you mess those up? Yes. and the shrimp was grossly fishy, rubbery and had no flavor other than fishy ness. My better half got some kind of torta with beef also dry and rubbery. Pick somewhere else if you want good food and service that's actually nice to you.
