The portions are quite small and the taste has nothing special to it. It’s not bad but I’ve had better ramen at other restaurants. Otherwise the service was great and our waiter was very friendly.
This ramen shop makes full-bodied flavoured bases of chicken, pork and clam. They have multiple locations with the limited items only at some locations. As for dishes, we ordered: 1. Wagyu Ramen This is a chicken and beef base ramen paired with roasted beef, onions, watercress and a black truffle sauce. We found this broth super flavourful and rich. The beef wasn 't as tender as we wished for, and overall wasn 't worth. 2. Spicy Miso Ramen A bonito and kelp soup base ramen paired with pork chashu, bamboo shoot, chives and bokchoy. We enjoyed this ramen more than the wagyu as we found the chashu soft and tender. The spiciness was just right and the toppings added texture and flavour. 3. Takoyaki A 6 piece appetizer. This was what 'd you expect, nothing special or different. Good for sharing. Overall, this ramen shop is a good place for the original flavours/bases. We found the limited items not worth the extra money and would rather stick to the originals.
Had their ramen recently and really liked the strong flavour in the broth. I personally did not like their toppings as much as other ramen places. The texture of the ramen is similar to Kinton. Overall, it's a decent ramen spot but I would probably choose somewhere else next time.
I have been to Konjiki twice in Hong Kong. This is my first time having Ramen in Toronto and picking Konjiki again is to compare the taste on both sides. So how was it?Taste Wise: both sides are great, up to standard, you can taste the shellfish dashi flavour especially if you had the clam shio ramen. They also have the porcini mushroom paste here however, the fragrance wasn't profound compared to the HK counterpart. Also, they have truffle oil for clam shoyu ramen in HK which they didn't have in Toronto, but still they both taste great and enjoyable.Price wise: in Hong Kong, they only have one size(regular size), you can choose super size in Toronto. The regular size in HK is the same price as the Super size here.Snack wise: there are more choices than in HK. I recommend the tofu nuggets, silky tofu mixed with chopped veg then fried, crispy outside, soft inside, excellent combination, and Squid wasabi if you are more adventurous.Atmosphere: Here is more relaxing and laid back compared to the one in HK which is located in a high end office building in Central.
My family came here because we heard from a friend that it was good. I shared the original shoyu tonkatsu ramen with my mom, my brothers got the clam shoyu and shio ramens, and my dad got the smokey black tonkatsu ramen. I enjoyed the tonkatsu shoyu ramen enough but felt like it was a little bit lacking in flavor overall. The meat was a little dry and not super tasty, and I wish there were more veggies aside from the green onions. However it overall came together pretty decently. The clam ramens both had very strong seafood flavor in the broth. The shio ramen, despite having sea salt broth, didn't really taste like sea salt. The smokey black tonkatsu ramen was what it said on the tin: VERY smokey. There were little complaints about everyone's ramens but we all enjoyed them overall.
