The setting was idyllical tropical outdoor with polished wooden floor, comfortable outdoor furniture with a creek running just beyond the dining area and rainforest just beyond the restaurant boundary. we started with cocktails, moved to entrees and fish and kangaroo for mains. All were delicious. As we arrived very early (6pm) there was one else present which made the service a little slow considering lack of guests, but we were not in a hurray so it was not a big issue but I wonder how slow it might have been if there were more people. Having said that the food was very good and the ambiance was wonderful eating good food in the Daintree Rainforest!
Amazing dinner at this beautiful, tropical restaurant. The baked Brie was lovely. The Eton mess dessert with strawberry meringues was fantastic. Goats cheese canneloni beautiful. I'd highly recommend this restaurant if you're visiting the Daintree for a very nice night out.
I had a wonderful day at the Daintree forest, cape tribulations, and other marvelous spots. I went for lunch at the On the Turps Restaurant. I had amazing seafood, and the staff was super friendly and professional. The atmosphere was amazing. I wish I could go back and have one more dinner/lunch.
There were only four tables when we went for dinner, although when we stopped by at lunch there was hardly a spare seat to be found! We arrived when it was still light, so could enjoy the delightful creek side setting with luxuriant jungle plantings. I had the turkish bread and dukkah, my partner had a salad which was incredibly fresh and huge! For main course I had the duck expertly cooked, and my partner had the steak also cooked to perfection. We ended up taking home half the meal since the portions were so generous. My partner had a few mumbles about mosquitos, but as a native Aussie I wasn't bothered. Wonderful find in the Daintree.
This is an excellent restaurant in a very isolated location. Having experienced many of the CBD style fine dining establishments. I can firmly say that the Coral trout sweet potato gnocchi dish which was a special of the day was absolutely mind blowing. Great service from the staff and only the freshest of ingredients are used. We also stopped in for a lunch randomly and found the experience to be the same. Atmosphere is great and the surrounds are truly beautiful. A real gem in the forest. Will be back in July next year hope the Coral Trout is still on!
