The food unfortunately was not good at all. I ordered "matambre de cerdo con verduras" (pork slices with vegetables) but the meat was quite hard to chew. Dessert was really nothing special (flan casero). I would not come back again.
Great spot if it's sunny - the garden is beautiful and a sun-trap. However the food is terrible, and we felt completely ripped off - we ordered the ejecutivo menu which includes a coffee and a drink. We asked if a glass of wine constituted the included drink to be told yes, however we were later charged for it. Furthermore when we ordered our coffees we were not advised that only an espresso is included, so when the bill came our cafe con leches were also charged for. The desert order was incorrect as well, so we ended up paying much more that we'd anticipated and they would not concede that we had not been properly informed. We felt deliberately ripped off as tourists, which has not happened so far for us in a month of South American travel.Very disappointing.
The house is great, the views are pleasing but as always the food is mediocre. We asked for the 2 items on the special menu. Costillitas de cerdo con salsa BBQ and Matambre a la pizza. They try to give good service and taste was acceptable but it arrived almost cold served on a cold plate. It's a shame that they don't match the kitchen to the service and ambience. It's still a good value and i will keep coming back. Maybe one day they will get it right.
This place has got everything to become a gem: a beautiful classical building surrounded by a garden. We had a lunch in the garden, but unfortunately the food was rather disappointing.
After touring the Tigre area, we decided to have lunch at Villa Julia. This was once a home, now a small hotel/inn and restaurant. What a grand home to have lived in years ago! You have the choice of several first floor rooms, the porch or many outdoor tables scattered throughout the grounds to dine. All are either under shady trees, canvas canopies or umbrellas. We were seated immediately and quickly provided a menu, with a good varied selection at competitive pricing. They had several 115p lunch specials that included Ravioli and Milanese with dessert selections. The best part of dining, besides the food, was the relaxing atmosphere with the feeling of not having a care in the world. You felt as though you could spend the whole day conversing/relaxing. The servers were very pleasant and polite. We even saw several guests wheeling their luggage to checkin. Afterwards we crossed the street to stroll along the Tigre River. Then several blocks away, we view the wonderful building and art exhibits at Museo de arte de Tigre.
