I recommend you ask for a sample plate before you order. They will kindly bring you a plate with their various mole's to taste with tortilla so you know which you would like to order. My wife and I ordered tamales and enchiladas and mixed and matched the sauces as we found we liked them all too much to just stick with one.
Ate here numerous times...sunday breakfast too! Great food, good service and live music!! Nice family atmosphere! Very authentic!! Will be back!!!
Went to La Casa del Mole Poblano for dinner. They provide parking in the lot next door. Seated quickly on a Monday night. I had the chicken breast mole poblano which was very good. They have an extensive menu but I figured I would order mole since that is why I came here. It was a good choice. They have an extensive drink list menu but the waiter either did not speak good English or was not familiar with the drinks so had a standard margarita.
While in TJ, our cousin mentioned this as one of her favorite restaurants. I can see why. Ate dinner and while they are less familiar with English, between the hostess who speaks better English and the Google Translate app for my iPhone, we were able to get by. The food was authentic, plentiful, delicious and reasonably priced. A good choice!
Slow service. My server was distracted by talking to patrons to a table near by. I had to ask for my food, ask for missing items. Finally the food arrived lukewarm. Obviously the food had been seating for a while, waiting for the server to bring it to my table. ( I want to assume that it was the server's fault and not the kitchen for serving lukewarm food) .The food was NOT that great. Visiting several restaurants in the city and familiar with Mole, I would give it no more than **.I order a "mojito". It was served FLAT, meaning if they indeed used mineral water/sparking water of some sort, the glass sat out too long before bringing it to the table. Upon questioning the server about my disappointment, his comment was "oh I guess the water didn't have enough punch". Really?.I said to him that I didn't like it. He did not offer to remedy my disappointment. The BIG shock was when the flat mojito was detailed on the bill. I questioned him, as to why it was there. His lame response was, because I had ordered it. I requested to talk to the manager. Why go to this kind of experience, when there are other places where the service is 100% better than this place? and food of greater quality. Thank you but NO Thank you.
