The food was terrible and clearly not prepared fresh. It was a big letdown.

We visited the restaurant late at night after a long day of driving, and the owner's hospitality was outstanding, even though the restaurant was already closed. We were a group of 21 people at the time. The food was simple—he prepared fried rice and wonton noodle soup—but it was absolutely delicious. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They serve authentic fried rice and traditional Chinese dishes, along with friendly service. We make it a point to stop for lunch here whenever we’re passing through.

This restaurant is amazing. We were driving late from Hokitika on a weekday and found ourselves hungry. My wife reached out, and the owner of Papillon was exceptionally kind, keeping the restaurant open for us to grab a meal. We really appreciated it.
