Contribuisci feedbackBEST PLACE EVER!!! Enough said. I went with my family and the place was super authentic, great customer service, the food and beverages were so delicious. The stone soup with shrimp was the best, it had a very unique taste and the drinks were not too sweet and were as natural as they can be. I also tried the quesadillas and the empanadas and they were great. The environment was awesome, it was as if you were in an authentic Mexican kitchen and dinner table. The women that attended us were super.I will recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a great experience of the culture and for something unique and delicious. This place is an unforgettable experience with a unique tradition that you have to experience first hand.
My taxi driver recommended this place and he was not wrong. The food here is from the Chinateco people in the southern part of the state of Oaxaca. I had their main offering caldo de piedra, or stone soup. It is a soup made with fish, shrimp, onion, tomato and chile and cooked by placing a hot stone right out of the hearth and into the gourd bowl. This causes the soup to boil and fully cook on about four minutes. The owner explained that this is a traditional fiesta dish in his pueblo and that men cook it and offer it to women on their day of rest. It is delicious and a truly unique experience of mesomaerican cooking. Seek this place out if you are in Oaxaca.
To be honest, up until recently I had no idea this place existed, we found it when my husband was looking online for things to do when his mom visited. We came here for lunch on her last day. It was seriously the perfect meal. The most important item on the menu here is the Stone Soup, it has shrimp, fish, tomato other secret ingredients that make this a unique soup, but the most interesting part is the process, you do have to visit to know what I'm talking about. The soup portion is very generous, so one bowl is enough for 2 people, if you have a big appetite order one bowl for you or compliment with something else. You can also order quesadillas, empanadas memelas, which go really nice with the stone soup. There's different kinds of juices sodas available. The customer service is amazing too, they invite you too see how the stone soup is made and even let you take pics video. Whenever you're visiting Oaxaca or looking for somewhere unique to go, visit this place.
