One night in Tlaxcala, the most gentle don Julio who works in El casón de Cortés (our hotel) suggested to us the restaurant We asked specifically to eat well. In the restaurant, we...explained very clearly that my girlfriend doesn't tolerate spicy dishes. So we took the waiter's advice for dishes that weren't. We had our first small portion of tacos gobernador (shrimp), without chile: not marvelous, some tacos had three shrimps and the other six, but that went OK. But the following soup was very spicy and my girlfriend simply couldn't have it. So she's hungry. We asked for a half portion of tacos Gobernador and they said it wasn't possible to serve a half portion. Accordingly, we ordered another portion. But this time it came very very spicy. We sent it back to the kitchen. The guy starts to yell in the kitchen. Then he bursts out and leaves the establishment. After some minutes, the waiter brings us two tacos (so: a half portion) without chile — they weren't well prepared and presentation was a disaster. The check listed tacos dishes. We ordered two. We complained, and the maximum they agreed to concede was a portion on the third one — thus they charged the same half portion that wasn't possible in their own words. When clients are arrogant and unrespectful, it is understandable (though not reccomendable) that the staff could lose their temper. But we were always polite, explaining our issue with a peaceful and reconciling attitude. We surely did not deserve this kind of treatment. I could say I'm a travelled guy. I got to know both popular and elegant places in most of this planet's continents. Never had I been confronted by such a primadonna chef. Despite the gentle recommendation of our friend Don Julio, if you want to be treated like a human being: I wouldn't recommend this establishment!! It is indeed possible that we go sometime back to Tlaxcala, but but surely not to Uno-Uno.
We had breakfast here twice, and it was excellent. Contrary to the previous reviewer's experience, we had big portions, and the food was delicious. It seemed to be very popular with local government officials. The cappuccinos were great! We really enjoyed the staff as well.
The place is very small, the service is good and the food is OK, but not great. They portions are small.
