Last year (in 2023) they still offered BBQ on the menu with various kinds of meat plates, BBQ chicken, Burnt Ends, Baby Back Ribs, etc. They also used to feature tasty baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, delicious cornbread, and other yummy sides. My server explained the menu changed in February 2024 and all the BBQ items were dropped. Bummer. Now if I want good BBQ I need to drive over to Big Pine, CA, and visit Copper Top. Currently, Tonopah Brewing Company offers Pizza, Salads, Burgers, and a few sandwiches. The wide beer selection remains, however. My favorite has been the Mucker Irish Red Ale! All the beers are brewed on-site, I've tried several and they're all good! Most are also available for purchase to take (in cans) and enjoy later. They also offer Shandies, Craft Sodas (non-alcoholic), and Wine. So, on my recent visit, I ordered the Mizpah Combo pizza. It wasn't exactly the best I've ever had but not the worst pizza either. The crust was alright, the toppings were adequate... pretty okay for the $16.25 asking price. I'll have to venture back to try their other menu items, again, pairing them with my favorite Mucker Irish Red Ale! If you find yourself passing through Tonopah on Highway 95 it's worth stopping by Tonopah Brewing Company for a visit. Grab a quick bite, then wash it all down with some tasty cool craft beer brewed on-site! Tonight I sat at the bar with friends. The bartender was friendly as usual but not as attentive as she used to be. The music was still a good selection of everything that could please everybody. This is the 1st time that I have returned since the big menu changes of February 2024. I was super sad at the new menu. Biggest change: no more BBQ. They also took away my favorite fried pickles. Fries is no longer an option as a side: it is tater tots or onion rings. If you sit at a table or booth, you now walk up to the counter to order your food instead of a waitress coming to you. The food choices are now more standard diner menu choices that can be found anywhere. The 1st beer I tried was the Mounds of Love. It did have the taste of a Mounds Bar which I appreciated as I am a huge Mounds fan but it was way overly sweet. My 2nd beer was the Eclipse Stout. This beer was much better but it was lacking the depth and complexity of other stouts. I found it very one note with no distinct flavor. For an appetizer, I ordered the fried cheese curds. These didn't come out as an appetizer, they sadly came out with my meal which gave me too much food at one time and overwhelmed me. The cheese curds were lightly breaded and served hot. They did seem that they were frozen and store bought. For my main meal, I did a cheese quesadilla and the French Dip. The cheese quesadilla had a good bit of cheese and was toasted perfectly. The French Dip was cooked well and had a good bit of meat. The au jus was very salty though. I think I will be back when my friends want to go, but I can't say I will be going out of my way to dine/drink here. Especially with BBQ off the menu.
WHAT, NO BBQ!!! SERIOUSLY, WTF--N0 BBQ! We have been to the Brewery many times over the years and while the beers have been okay, the BBQ has always been amazing! We had been in Oregon for a month; were on our way home and planning on stopping in Hawthorne for the night. We got to Hawthorne and realized we could still get to Tonopah by mid-afternoon and stop at the brewery for BBQ and drinks (notice the priority was BBQ). We were able to pull up right in front even with our motor home and trailer. We went in, ordered our cocktails (me wine, hubby beer); grabbed a menu; and went outside to relax since the weather was awesome. I was looking at the menu and didn't see the usual BBQ Sundae that was my staple. I went in and asked about it and the server pointed out there is NO BBQ ANY MORE!!! I looked closer at the menu and wasn't impressed. As I recall, there were half dozen or so appetizer and most of which were fried. They had two salads, pizzas, a chicken sandwich (that I believed was fried), and several burgers. None of that sounded appetizing to us since, for us, it wasn't BBQ nor healthy. Plus we'd read the reviews (AFTER we learned there was no BBQ) and one reviewer had to toss his Buffalo Chicken Salad in the trash because the salsa was bad so we weren't going down that road. I will say hubby found an IPA that he thought was good and when I asked about the Pinot Gris, I leaned it was the winery in the Sonoma, CA area that was owned by the Brewery owner. At this point, about the only good thing I can say about the Tonopah Brewery is our server was as sweet as can be, hubby found and IPA he liked, and their wine was pretty good. As for the food, we did not try it and don't intend to. I seriously doubt--despite the man times we go through Tonopah--that we'll be back. Such a disappoint. As the saying goes: if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Haven't been here in a yr or two and we really wanted some BBQ but when we stopped in to find out they took this gem of a place from extraordinary to ordinary it's a shame! The burger wasn't bad but it was just ordinary. Good thing the beer is COLD! Hopefully they will read their reviews.
First and last time here. Overpriced burgers and pizza that were just average. No BBQ on the menu which makes this just another boring restaurant like every other small town in Nevada. I placed an order for a margarita pizza and asked if they had a small salad since I didn't want to pay $15 for their regular salad. The bartender said they did have a small salad. I assumed that's what she rang me up for but she charged me $15 and gave me the regular salad. The pizza was bland and just average. Not worth going back to.
