This Italian restaurant in Torbay is exceptional. The food is made to order, so it may take some time, but there's no rush when dining in such a lovely establishment. We have dined here three times in the last few months and each time the food has been outstanding. Wendy, the owner, has been extremely helpful, kind, and polite. As a vegetarian, they have always been able to prepare a delicious dish for me upon request, such as the aubergine parmigiana which was fantastic. The crepes suzette for dessert are heavenly. I have no idea what the previous negative reviewer was talking about, as our experiences have always been positive. If you're looking for fast food, go to McDonald's. If Wendy and her husband do decide to retire, it will be well-deserved, but Torbay will surely miss one of its best and most unique dining establishments.
I don't typically write reviews, but I feel compelled to share our recent dining experience. It was a complete waste of time! We spent 3 hours at the restaurant, with at least 45 minutes between each course. To start, my wine and my partner's beer were served in gin glasses, and tap water was served in Jack Daniels glasses. The starters were disappointing, with cheap frozen prawns and a pineapple ring. My main dish was a store-bought lasagna, completely lacking the homemade touch. The dish was perfectly rectangular, thin, and tasted like something I could have bought at a store. The wait for the food was even more disappointing, as we waited 2 hours. My partner's chicken came out first, and he was left waiting for his vegetables, resulting in cold chicken. Dessert was no better, as my dish was served cold while it should have been warm. Despite the restaurant's long history since 1986, it was evident in the outdated menu, decor, and dirty restrooms. It may be time for the restaurant to consider retiring their aprons.
Lovely service, all good freshly prepared and waitress very accommodating for what the children wanted!
Four of us ate here last week and the food was excellent. This is traditional Italian food at its best. So lovely to have some of the old, delicious dishes. Additionally, Wendy is a lovely, caring host. We shall be back, many times
