The Thatched Tavern - Torbay

Pre booked and ordered in advance as a large group. Had a few allergies within the group and the choices were not the best gor them but chose a starter as a main and confirmed we would accept the extra cost but the starter size was given. We were told the staff did not like attending our table but we were all polite and also left a 30.00 tip so we couldn't have been that bad. I have had a roast before just 2 people but that was lovely so perhaps it is the large parties they struggle with.

Just had Sunday lunch and it was amazing. We’ve never had a bad meal here, the Sunday roast is exceptional, lots of wonderful veg and the service is great. Can’t recommend it highly enough…in the words of Arnold Swartzeneger “ we’ll be back”.

Lovely food (from the non bar menu) which was freshly cooked. You will need to buy sides! Lovely atmosphere and staff were attentive. All 3 courses were excellent and we would definitely come again.

We chose the Fish. Brilliant value Light batter, fresh fish. Friendly service. Definitely be back.

This really is some exceptionally good food. We both had Hake, with a bisque sauce, on saffron potatoes, and fennel, It was superb. The deserts are really good, they arent too sweet, just subtle, which means you can really enjoy the flavour. Poached pear and Apple tartlet we had. And then we had another desert, the chocolate dish, super rich, but again, not too sweet. Its the kind of desert you can have two of!
