This is our place for the best steaks in southern France, by far. excellent quality, perfectly boiled, with tasty frits. great welcome friendly atmosphere, with the addition of mainly local weeping makes us back

La Costelle is a jewel in the Languedoc countryside. Just half an hour from Perpignan, it sits alone on a country lane and delivers reliably good food, service and value. Directions are relatively minimal so you will need to pay attention! From Fourques you drive...towards Llauro and turn off right towards Torderes, where you might expect a restaurant signpost but won't find one! The concept' is simple: choose from 3, 4 or 5-course prix fixe menus from 21 euros to 32 euros. This allows the restaurant delivers great value and quality, and I wish more establishments would follow their lead. The starter salad trolley, delightfully billed as a chariot', is wheeled to the table so you can help yourself. But do hold back if you've chosen the 5-course option as you will need space for what is come. We were then served a generous shared platter of calamari beignet (tender, battered rings) with just a simple squeeze of lemon, before the main event: char-grilled Limousin rib of beef, one enormous platter of pink, well-rested meat between two, with a pile of straw chips and a spicy dip on the side. With a bottle of lightly chilled, fruity local red we contentedly munched our way through every last slice, even stripping the bones of the last scraps of meat. The cheese board followed a platter of at least 6 cheeses left on the table, no meanly plated miniscule slivers! Desserts were a choice of fruit sorbet, warm chocolate fondant and creme Catalan. Somehow we found the room to demolish those as well. The Blanc family's style is warm and relaxe monsieur in the kitchen, madame in the dining room creating a buzz of happy, contented diners. La Costelle has rooms, too. Next time, we'll leave the car in the field opposite and stay the night.
C'est la 3e fois que nous venons dans ce restaurant : qualité toujours égale avec une excellente grillade ( côte de boeuf ) et un dessert maison, avec , en plus cette année, le délicieux mojito pris au bar d'été.Encore merci.A conseiller absolument!
