I purchased a Groupon voucher for this restaurant, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try yesterday. This place is totally unpredictable.
We had an nCrowd voucher for Eastern European Cuisine there... but, when we arrived, there was no food around .... at all ...something happened to the Chef a few weeks before ... but thanks to the efforts of the young and pretty lady-bartender the evening didn't become a total write off...
Unbelievable service that goes along with the amazing food. The schnitzel was fantastic, the shrimp sauce to die for and a fruit crepe to finish was terrific! Highly recommend.
Tried this place recently with a Groupon and loved the food. I wobbled out after scarfing a large serving of Goulash soup (with a ton of beef and tasty broth). Also had the Balaton fish dish (sorry, don't remember the exact name), which I loved for its spicy green peppers and generous portion of fish. Finished with a deep-fried Hungarian dessert that was like Canadian beaver tails, nicely topped with cinnamon. My taste buds loved it. Someone else had the chicken paprikash, but that was a little bland, though filling.Portions are large and prices reasonable: $5 soups, $12-15 entree, $6-8 desserts. The only thing I warn about is that Saturday evenings they play club music over the sound system and at 10 pm they promptly kill the lights and turn it into a club. Decor is mostly large wooden booths that offer privacy and space.Service very good, but the poor girl was the only server when they needed two. But she was super friendly and worked hard. Tip her well.BTW, her mum, Anna, is the cook. Yes, a true Hungarian mother cooking for you.Would go again.
