We had a fantastic find at this restaurant. The owners were extremely welcoming and the food was both unique and delicious. We decided to give it a try as we were in the area for an event and had heard good things about the restaurant. We were not disappointed. We can't wait to return for many more visits.
The restaurant was a hidden gem in the literal sense. Previously I lived a few blocks away and several times the week passed by, and it took at least two years to realize that this restaurant was open for shops. once I found out that the restaurant opened only Friday evenings and Saturday evenings, we were regularly, even if we no longer live in toronto, let alone canada. we flew over the weekend weekend, and after the crash of our case we went straight to the blue bay caffe. we were not alone in this aspekt. before some visit we have heard a nearby table telling the server that they just picked up the related at the airport and came to dinner directly, especially for chicken pliers. and this is the first must-eat article: chicken teeth (cotelette volaille). they are more of boned lighter sticks, immersed in any kind of eierbatter and fried to perfection. they are moist inside and crustrated outside, and they are not fat. they are also addicted. they want more than one, but they want to save space for other dishes. the brown vinegar dip and the spicy hot sauce cut enough, but they don't need it. for the hot sauce a drop goes far. Last time we had dinner there, a few came to pick up their call order. during the waiting they ordered to eat chicken slices because they did not want to have soggy chicken slices at home. So if they don't eat a chicken, please order the chicken teeth. we also had fricassee okra (perfekt sautéed okra with light dressing, a bit tangy, a bit umami), our stacked article. if they never okra or think that it is slim, this court could take them another. other favorites in the past were samosas and palm heart okra salat that we did not have this time. for the main course we have found nothing we don't like. there are many seafood options, and the taste ranges from spicy to mild, with a kick curry, a bang of lime and a crisp and tang of green mango. this time we had served carri outrite (oktober in a light curry sauce) with rice. the otopus was tender, the sauce was not heavy and had a spicy kick from the curry to awaken the palate. we had also healed with green mango. it came with a lot of garnel, and I enjoyed the balance between the delicious, spicy curry and the crispy green mango sticks with a hauch of tartness. most dishes are served with fluffy rice, cauliflower and tomatensalsa to round the aromes. our other favorites in the past were salmi canard (roast ente with wein and cinnamon); fish rougaille (fish in a savory tomato sauce); fish vindaye (fish with bottom screed, garlic and swirl); and crevettes au coeur de palmiste (tender garnel with tangigen palm hearts). the beverage options are limited. they can house wine through the glass or in a carafe (half-liter), beer (bottles) or softdrinks. desserts are also very limited. there could be a cake or sorbet. the price is reasonable. except the duck, the most important cursor elements are less than $15 (canadian). the restaurant is a family business. I don't know how long it was around, but a woman came with her date and said the waitress that the last time she was here 21 years ago and that she was glad that the menu had not changed. it sounded like taking your date here was a pilgrimage. the ambiente is relaxing and calm. We were with us earlier. there is a waitress or waitress for the entire dining room. the service is polite and friendly and sometimes can be slow, but not too slow. normally they can go in without reservation. the restaurant was never packed, but at our last visit it was almost full. maybe the people find out the hidden gem.
Charming elegant ambiance made even more attractive by being open for dinner only on Fridays and Saturdays. The attentive and elegant hostess creates a continental presence of professionalism. The food was exquisite My friend and I shared the Samosas with a cold Okra/Palm Hearts...salad (pictured below in low light) followed by Fish Vendaye with my friend having the Fish in Ginger Sauce. All Excellent. Only caution during the cold Canadian winter are the two two person tables by the entrance to avoid
I love surprises! We had been wanting to visit this restaurant since we moved to the area in November, but they are only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Last night, we finally had the chance to go. The decor looked like it did when the restaurant first opened (a bit dated), but it added to the overall experience. The food was absolutely amazing! From the chicken cutlet and okra to the curried octopus, duck, and two fish dishes, I have never tasted anything with such unique flavor combinations. Sometimes, a quaint atmosphere can be amazing, which is surprising in a city where new shiny restaurants open all the time. BlogTO, why have you not visited this place since 2008? Shed some light on it! This is a culinary experience that you should definitely make an effort to try.
