Indian street food often tastes different when adapted for Western palates, but this restaurant managed to strike a good balance. We ordered dishes such as Salli Chicken, Chicken Wings, Pav Bhaji, and Masala Tea. I won't compare the taste to what I am used to back home, as it wouldn't be fair. However, I appreciate that they adjusted the spice levels to cater to Canadian tastes. This restaurant is a great option in the commercial area, where cafes, sandwich shops, and fast food joints are often the only choices. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try.
Despite living on the outskirts of Toronto, I spend a lot of my time in the city around Bloor Yonge station and Union. I recently discovered a hidden gem on Bay street, a lovely restaurant started by two sister-in-laws. Their goal is to bring the taste of Bombay to Toronto, offering a unique and casual dining experience with authentic Indian street food dishes. Bombay Street Food strays away from the typical Indian restaurant menu, offering a refreshing and delicious alternative.
I would give the food 4 stars and the service 3.5 stars. I ordered the veggie curry with rice, roti, and salad for take-out dinner. The food was delicious and had unique flavors not typically found in other restaurants in the city. However, I felt that the portion sizes were a bit small, and there was a long wait for my order. Additionally, my order was incorrect. The management later contacted me to rectify the mistake, which I appreciated.
Located on Bay st, the place looks great from the inside. The walls are decorated with Posters that showcase Bombay! I found the prices high for the food that I didn't like! Qubani ka Meetha was mouth watering though.
