Campagnolo - Toronto

I've been there a few times now and I'm always amazed and how uncomplicated life can be once you step inside. The service is smooth, the food is simple and delicious, the drink list is very varied (lots for everyone) and the decor is calm and classic.Thank you for making this such a comfortable place!

My family of six made reservations to take our adult daughter out for a celebratory birthday dinner. We heard good things from reliable people about the food at Campagnolo so we reserved for dinner. We were told for groups of six or more we had to have the The Chef's Table Experience which consisted of several courses at $60 a head. We agreed. Before arriving we called to say it was a birthday and could a candle be placed on one of the desserts. The restaurant agreed. We arrived and were greeted with indifference and taken to a nice table. The wine list has some very interesting options with the usual restaurant pricing. When I asked the waitress what would be coming first so as to determine an appropriate wine to chose, no assistance was offered. I picked a very nice proseco which shortly arrived as did an assortment of delicious appetizers. However, the amount of food for the six of us went from adequate to inadequate, and with erratic pacing. When we aren't given a choice in the ordering there should be enough food for all diners to have more than a mouthful. The final appetizer was a really delicious delicate scallop crudo., Unfortunately i had to ask for clean plates which were promptly delivered without fuss. We shouldn't have needed to ask. A bottle of red wine was ordered, and then came two types of pasta both of which were seriously overcooked. This was really unacceptable for an upscale Italian restaurant. When the server came around to clear the plates i was asked how the pastas were, and i told her. The server apologized and said she would tell the kitchen. Sometime later when my wife stopped the manager to inform him that there was no toilet paper in the women's washroom, the manager apologized for the pastas and gave us a small discount on the bill which was nice. The meat and fish courses were very good.although not enough for six adults to share. Finally the dessert came without a candle. Now that was irritating. We each then got a shot glass of mediocre caramel pudding. A disappointing end to a generally disappointing expensive meal served with indifference. .

I went to TO to visit my boyfriend for a week and we agreed to do one "fancy" dinner where we spent a little more and got dressed up. After weeks of debating on where to go and our first choices being booked, we settled on Campagnolo.I would not say this this was "settling" however. First I was charmed by the host who seated us outside by our request but also graciously brought out the cutest red and white striped blanket to lay on my chair incase I got cold (I had a short dress with skinny straps and no jacket.) Our waitress was nothing spectacular but she also didn't miss a beat.We started out the night with some sauvignon blanc and then each enjoyed a pasta dish. I wish they would have had gnocchi as it it my favorite but the food we did order was still great. I had a pasta with potatoes and a pesto sauce, while my boyfriend has something more traditional with red sauce and chicken. Both were quite flavorful and just the right sized portions. Usually we find that we waste so much food or just have to share a dish, so this was perfect. We even had a little room for desert which was truly our favorite part since we never order desert!Finally the host was kind enough to take a photo of us outside the restaurant which is one of my favorite photos to date. Really worth your time to check this place out!

Had a great dinner. Was very happy with both the food and service. The wine/cocktails are very expensive though which can really drive up the bill.

I went with a friend of mine, on a Friday night. The place was packed, and we ordered a couple of apps and mains. The food was delicious, really outstanding. However, were both really annoyed with the service, we were overlooked and ignored the entire time. Might have been a short staffed night, anyhow we will return. YUM!!
